Purpose/Objective of Detail Survey

Outcome/Results The visit was part of Joint Research project “Social and
Hydrological Research to Improve Impact of Distributed Energy
on Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation in KP” On
5th and 6th May, 2018, Research project team led by Dr.
Tanveer Ahmad and Dr. Abdul Basit accompanied by 4
research students visited two different Micro hydro project
sites installed at two different places providing electricity to
the mountaineer community of Kalam Valley, Swat. The aim
of the visit was to get the in depth technical information
about the operation of MHPs, experience of local
communities with MHPs, and sociological and ecological
impact these projects are creating on the community. The
subsequent objective of the visit was to investigate the issues,
challenges and their causes faced by community, those who
have commissioned the projects and those who are currently
operating and running the two projects. For this purpose, a
survey was conducted form different people like those
managing and operating the MHP and the community getting
benefit from it.
