Summary of changes and amendments made with respect to version 3.1
The xSpider software system is a graphically oriented design system for dimensioning of low-voltage networks
fitted with Eaton brand circuit protection equipment. It calculates voltage drops, load distributions and short-circuit
currents for radial as well as meshed networks and carries out a subsequent check on the suitability of the cables
and protection equipment used. The software is intended primarily for designers and computational engineers.

The new compilation 3.1 includes all the changes released gradually in the period from 08/2017 to 07/2018 and a
number of improvements based on users' wishes.

Most important changes:

User interface:
1. Operation States Manager: The current operation state name is displayed in the header of the Error List
window close to the current project file name, in the title block close to network identification and in the
calculation report. The content of the Operation States Manager dialogue box can be exported to an Excel
file.
2. Tag: the default tag prefix can be set for each wiring diagram symbol (for example Q for switch-
disconnector instead of the standard S). The width of the default tag text box and default tag position can
be set. These settings are applied to newly inserted symbols.
3. Cable Installation Method: the option of setting the default cable installation method and cable ambient
temperature (for newly inserted cables) has been added (for example installation in ground (D) at a
temperature of 20°C instead of standard installation in the air at a temperature of 30°C).
4. A list of recently used items is shown in the top of the Cable Installation Method dialogue box. Quick
navigation has also been added; this enables the user to quickly jump to the first row of each installation
methods group (for example to the first row of group A (installation in a thermally insulated wall), or of
group D (installation in the ground) and so on.
5. Thermal resistance of earth – brief description to each value was added.

Calculations:
6. The option of Automatic Dimensioning of lines, switching and protective devices has been added. This
seems to be useful for standard projects.

Tripping characteristics:
7. A legend for each curve of the tripping characteristics graph is automatically added below the chart before
printing / export. The legend contains device tag, type designation and release settings.
8. All tripping chars collections can be printed / exported at once. In the case of PDF export, all collections are
exported to one PDF file.

Database:
9. Database update performed.

Calculation report:
10. The list of variables relating to calculations contains a short circuit sinewave graph with explanation of the
main parameters (in English language only).
11. Order numbers of Eaton devices are exported to the list of wiring diagram symbols with their parameters.
The list can be imported to other software, for example to E-Config software for distribution board planning.

Summary:
12. Altogether, more than 36 repairs and improvements have been made + 71 changes were released
continuously over the last year.
