A MINISTRY UPDATE FROM ALYSSA MONDA SEPTEMBER 2010

God is not the reflection of our fathers, but the Perfection!

Cape
Town
was
honestly
the
most
beautiful
place
I
have
ever

seen.
Each
day
we
would
go
somewhere
new
and
I
would
find

myself
saying
this
is
the
most
beautiful
place
I
have
ever
been.

Then
the
next
day
that
would
change
and
that
day’s
location

would
be
the
new
most
beautiful
place.
We
had
a
great
time
as

a
team
hiking
up
Table
Mountain
and
out
to
Cape
Point.
We

went
to
Hermanus
to
see
the
Southern
Right
Whales,
and
to

Stellenbosch
to
see
the
beautiful
vineyards
of
South
Africa.

The
pictures
on
this
update
will
not
do
any
of
it
justice
and
so

I
advise
you
again
to
begin
saving
and
planning
a
vacation
to

this
wonderful
place.
I
feel
so
privileged
that
our
team
was

able
to
take
a
week
to
explore
and
be
refreshed
in
such
a

beautiful
setting.

Once
we
returned
to
Durban,
we
had
to
get
back
to
work

immediately.
We
planned
another
camp
that
would
take
place

the
next
week,
and
somehow
God
moved
more
throughout
this

camp
than
he
did
in
the
last.
Our
camp
was
themed
“Our

Father”.
This
theme
plucked
the
heartstrings
of
many
of
our

students,
since
there
seemed
to
be
many
scars
in
our

movements
involving
biological
Fathers.

Dan
opened
up
the

weekend
by
speaking
about
his
story
of
adoption.
He
told
us
about
how
he
was
born
into
a
place
of

desolation
and
was
living
a
life
leading
to
destruction,
but
someone
saw
him
and
loved
him
instantly.
This

someone
went
to
him
and
told
him
he
wanted
to
make
him
a
part
of
his
family,
which
was
a
wealthy

family
and
a
family
of
royalty.
As
Dan
was
adopted
into
that
family
he
went
in
by
being
bought
with
a
high

price,
because
adoption
is
very
costly,
and
he
was
left
with
many
scars
and
issues
from
his
past,
but

slowly
he
began
to
develop
the
marks
of
the
family
and
the
scars
began
to
fade
away
from
the
new
love

he
had
found
with
a
Father
that
loved
him
perfectly.
Dan
shared

that
this
story
is
the
story
of
anyone
who
believes
in
Christ.
Dan

wasn’t
adopted
by
anyone
other
than
God,
who
paid
the
price
of

His
life
to
adopt
us,
so
he
is
now
a
royal
son
from
His
line,

because
the
bible
says
that
God’s
desire
is
to
adopt
us
as
children.

He
carried
on
to
discuss
what
it
would
look
like
if
we
really

believed
that
we
were
children
of
God.

God
used
Barrett
the
next
day
to
break
through
many
of
the
scars

in
our
students’
lives,
as
he
discussed
how
our
Earthly
Fathers

could
influence
the
way
we
relate
to
our
Heavenly
Father.
He

talked
about
different
types
of
Fathers
(absent
father,
abusive

father,
encouraging
father,
performance‐based
father,
etc.)
and

how
we
project
these
characteristics
onto
God
and
think
that

we
must
perform
to
gain
His
approval,
or
that

He
will
not
be
around
in
our
times
of
need.

Barrett’s
main
point
was
that
God
is
not
a

reflection
of
our
Earthly
fathers,
but
the

PERFECTION
of
our
Earthly
Fathers.
He

expressed
that
we
must
identify
what
traits

we
project
onto
God
that
are
not
true
of
His

character,
and
that
we
must
begin
to
see
God
as
a
perfect
loving
Father
who
desires
to

bless
us,
hold
us
and
encourage
us
the
way
a
Father
should.

A MINISTRY UPDATE FROM ALYSSA MONDA SEPTEMBER 2010

It
was
great
to
hear
our
students

about

what
they
were
learning
and
where
scars
were
in
and share things about her father that she had never

It
also

since she is not projecting those feelings on Him,
time
to

about
our

but instead knows He loves her. She is full of joy
and
