Rationale:
Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) namely jeepney, buses, etc. are the most popular
relatively underdeveloped, partly due to the country's mountainous areas and scattered
nation's infrastructure. In recent years, however, the Philippine government has been
pushing to improve the transportation system in the country through Public Utility
Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). The PUVMP hopes to promote a safer and
more environment-friendly option for commuters. The program mandates the installation
of speed limit devices in the new modern vehicle, dashcams are installed at the panel of
the car screens, modern PUVs have bigger seats to guarantee improved comfort and
convenience for the commuters, and has an automatic fare system. Despite of these
specifications of the modern PUV, they must also include the installation of an automated
PUV passenger vacancy display system. This is a safety measure because the system can
automatically count the passenger embarking and disembarking from the vehicle at the
same time passengers outside can clearly see the number of seats vacancy.
Objectives
This project aims to design a system for an automated PUV passenger vacancy
transport sector where drivers and operators can both benefit, while commuters get to
