Pastor: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here this afternoon to celebrate a commitment of love, a
commitment (Name of Couple) believe, is the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer by Pastor: Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we thank you for this wonderful day; and for the presence
of the Holy Spirit during this ceremony. We thank you for what this moment represents, and for what
shall transpire as (Whole Names of the Couple) commit their lives to each other. I thank you that Jesus
shall be exalted and that every person here will not only witness Your power and love, at work in (Name
of Couple) lives, but that each one present will realize Jesus’ love and commitment to the Church.
Emcee: Please remain standing for the reading of the Holy Scriptures.
VI Exchange of Vows
Pastor: As your hearts are joined together in love, will you please join your right hands.
(Name of Groom), do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses, that you will love (Name of
Bride), respect her, comfort her, and honor her all the days of your life?
Groom: I do.
Pastor Art: Bride, do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses, that you will love groom,
respect him, comfort him, and honor him all the days of your life?
Bride: I do.
Pastor: Do you Groom, take Bride to be your wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better,
for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to cherish with devoted love and faithfulness
till death do you part?
Groom: I do.
Pastor: Do you Broide, take Groom to be your husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for
better for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to cherish with devoted love and
faithfulness till death do you part?
Bride: I do.
Pastor: You may now share your personal vows with each other.
Pastor: May we have the rings please. (ring bearer gives rings)
Pastor: The rings are symbols of the covenant that groom and bride are entering into and establishing
this day.
These rings are never ending circles, indicating the continuing and eternal love of God with which you
are to love one another. These rings are made of precious metal (gold), one that is not easily tarnished.
This represents how valuable and precious your marriage covenant is in God’s sight.
Bless, O Lord, these rings that the one who gives it and the one who wears it may live in your peace
and continue in your favor, all the days of their life through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Groom: Bride, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I
honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Groom: Groom, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I
honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Groom: Bride, I give you these coins as a pledge of my dedication to your welfare in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Emcee: May we call on the veil sponsors to place the veil on the couple.
(Sponsors place veil on Groom’s right shoulder and over Bride’s veil)
By placing the veil over the head of the woman and on the shoulder of the man, we are affirming the
Biblical principle of headship of the man. As we read in the passage, the woman was taken from the
man’s side. Not from his head to rule the man, not from his feet to be trampled upon by him, but by his
side, to be a help and support to him; from under his arms to be protected by him; and near his heart to
be loved and cherished by him.
The cord symbolizes that marriage is a lifelong and unbreakable bond. By tying these two people
together, we are affirming the Biblical teaching that God intended marriage to last a lifetime.
(End Music)
Pastor: I present to you this Bible, the written Word of God, it is Spirit, it is life; it’s a light to your path.
Let this be your guide in life and surely you will be blessed and you will be a blessing to others.
Pastor: May I request the parents to please stand. In the past you have known (Name of Couple) as
individual persons. Now they are joined together in matrimony. Do you give them your blessing as they
now commit themselves to one another?
Parents: We do.
Pastor: And while respecting the priority of this new relationship, will you nonetheless assure them of
your continuing love, good wishes and prayers, and will you do all that you can to encourage and affirm
them as they live their life together?
Parents: We will
Pastor Art: I congratulate you for your constant faithfulness and support for (Name of Couple) up to this
very hour. May that faithfulness remain as long as you live. You may now take a seat.
When you consented and acted as sponsors of this wedding, you became the second parents to (Name
of Couple). Therefore you have much responsibility to them.
I now charge you to act as caring and loving parents to (Name of Couple) to assist them in their needs,
both material and spiritual, and do all you can to provide them with the example and counsel that they
may need in their life together.
Emcee: May we call on the Cord and Veil sponsors to remove the cord and veil.
XV Unity Ceremony
Emcee: May we call on the candle sponsors- (names of sponsors) to light the two
small candles.
(Name of Couple) have one candle each symbolizing their separate lives. Now these two candles shall
light one candle, a symbol of their new life together, for “the two shall become one” The spouses will
extinguish the small candles after lighting the big candle.
XVI Communion
Pastor: I charge you (Name of Couple), to keep this covenant not only as a pledge of faith to each other,
but also as a promise to God that you will honor the vows you made to Him and to one another.
I charge you groom, to love bride just as Jesus Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for it.
I charge you bride, to be submissive to groom, as the Church is obedient to the Lordship of Christ.
Pastor: And now that we have heard your pledges of affection, and you vows of fidelity, by the authority
conferred upon me by God as His minister, and by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, I
pronounce you husband and wife. You are no longer two but one, in the Name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Brothers and sisters, may I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez.
