Step 2 Perform network cable splicing (straight cable) Step 3. Set network configuration Step 4. Test the Network (SOHO networks/AD HOC networks) using the ping command and connect it through IP address and computer name. Step 5. Set up Router/Wi-Fi/Wireless assign your SSID (if necessary change the default IP address) connect to your mobile. Step 6. Create a wireless network with security Step 7. Set up internet connection sharing (if applicable) Step 8. Set up wireless access point assign SSID different from your Router SSID connect to your mobile. Step 9. Set up firewall, quality of service (QOS), MAC authentication Step 10. Conduct test through ping command.
Task Unit competency 3
Step 1. Create Peer-to-Peer Networks
Step 1.1 Assign IP Address Step 1.2 Change computer name Step 1.3 Change workgroup name Step 1.4 Change windows firewall settings Step 1.5 Test connectivity using ping command through computer name and IP address Step 2. Configure Network Server Step 2.1 Install and configure active directory domain services Step 2.2 Run dcpromo.exe after the ADDS installation. Create new forest name. Step 2.3 Create organizational unit under this OU create atleast two groups then create atleast 3 users. The two users add to a one group and other one user add to other group. Note: Make sure before you join your domain IP address of both server and client PC is configure appropriately. Step 2.4 Join your PC into domain membership Note: First username asking upon changing your domain name use server user name Ex. Username : administrator Password : P@ssw0rd Then restart your PC and log in again click switch user then use your created user account and the password. Step 2.5 Install and configure Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) After configuring the DHCP obtain the client PC IP address to verify the DHCP role. For client after obtaining IP address. Run IPCONFIG /release then run IPCONFIG /renew and then run again IPCONFIG to check if IP address is change and based on the IP address scope range of the Server. For server Open administrative tools select DHCP open IPv4 click IP address Pool, then click Address leases if the IP address display is the same from your client IP address. Install and configure print and documents services. Install printer and shared follow printer deployment.
Step 3. Install and configure Remote Desktop
Open system properties then remote setting click allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop (less secure) both server and client click Step 4. Perform file and printer sharing
Step 5. Perform testing of networks and documentation
