HOW TO ENTER PROPHETIC STATE

any books have been written about

the prophets, prophetic people,

prophesy, gift of prophesy, and so
forth. However, we don’t hear much
about the “prophetic state.” How
prophets of old managed to attain the spiritual
level where they could visit different spiritual
hierarchies, communicate with God, spirits and
angels, and come back to deliver God’s message
accurately to the people who dwell on earth.
Enoch lived in the first one thousand years of

Creation and perceived what life would at the

end of seven thousand years (Jude1:14). Moses
spiritually transported back to the age of
Creation known as the “beginning” (be·re·shit in Hebrew) and witnessed how God
created, formed and made everything both visible and invisible (Gen1,2). In the first
century John transported spiritually into the future Lord’s Day and witnessed the events
of the 21st century and beyond (Rev1:10). Elisha was in Israel and spiritually listened to
what the king of Syria secretly planed against the King of Israel in his bedroom
(1Kings6:8-20). Isaiah transported unto the throne of God (Isaiah 6) Ezekiel had visions
inside of visions, just like watching a chain of televisions inside of one screen, or having
a series of dreams inside of a dream. Was it just because these men were called to be

prophets, or did they undergo some spiritual discipline or had some techniques to attain
the prophetic state? Most people don’t think along this line, or ask these questions
because we have been made to believe in our churches that foretelling the future,
visitation(s) of the heavenly realms, seeing visions, and having prophetic dreams are
something set aside only for the prophets. However, King David says…..

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant
(Psalm25:14).

The secret of the Lord isn’t reserved only for the prophets, God’s hidden truth can be
revealed to anyone who fears Him, and to fear God simply means to hate sin-(Proverbs

8:13), God can reveal a hidden truth to those who don’t have pleasure in sin especially
when they pray and ask God…..

“Thus says ADONAI the maker, ADONAI who formed [the universe] so as to keep directing
it —ADONAI is his name: ‘Call out to me, and I will answer you —I will show you great
things, hidden things of which you are unaware"(Jeremiah33:2-3- Complete Jewish Bible).

In addition, Simon Peter makes it clear that prophecy never came by the will of man, but
“holy men of God” spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Holiness entails
“separation” therefore “holy men of God” doesn’t mean prophets alone, “holy men of
God” entails people (men and women) who have received the Holy Spirit and set
themselves apart to be used by God. We just have to understand that every child of God
is capable of foretelling the future, visiting the heavenly realms, seeing visions, having
meaningful dreams, and receiving accurate revelations from God…

 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your
sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young
men shall see visions (Joel2:28).

Jesus Christ also says, “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
However, when the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not
speak on his own initiative but will say only what he hears. He will also announce to you
the events of the future. (John16:12-13 - Complete Jewish Bible)

Living a prophetic life is not made for specific individuals in the church; every one of us
has the revelatory spirit of Christ, all we need is to put our flesh under submission so
that we can reach the prophetic state. This isn't to deny the fact that some people are
specifically gifted as prophets. However, even those who are called into the “prophetic
ministry” (so to say) also needs some spiritual discipline to operate in the prophetic
dimension. Carefully study the scriptures and you’ll learn that most of the people in “Old
Testament” that Jewish and Christian theologians consider major Prophets are
individuals who discipline themselves spiritually and reach the level where they began to
communicate with the host of Heaven.

What Is Prophetic State?

P rophetic state is a spiritual phenomenon that someone can make happen through
separation. For instance, the Holy men of God in the ancient time who journeyed into the
spiritual world to receive the oracle of God were used to two kinds of seclusion;
“external” and “internal” isolation…. 

* And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and
saw, and, behold, the camels were coming (Genesis 24:63).

* Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary
place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they
found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for you.” (Mark 1:35-37)

* So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation
to Israel (Luke1:80).

The purpose of physical separation of the holy men and the prophets was to achieve internal isolation,
which was to gain complete silence in their minds, or to put all wondering thoughts in their minds under
control….

* My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him. . (Psalm62:5 NASB)

* Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. (Psalm62:5 NLT)

* But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.(Habakuuk2:20) (Note:
the earth represents our mortal flesh with its desires, this scripture means God is speaking 24 hours
within us “the temple of God” but the flesh will not allow us to hear His inner voice)

* He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the
earth.” (Psalm46:10) 

When one isolates himself and achieves complete silence in mind that person has reached the
prophetic state. It’s in this state of deep quietness in mind that we can start perceiving clearly and
hearing accurately from the Spirit of the Living God. It’s also when someone achieves silence or
stillness in mind that the spiritual ascension unto the spirit world becomes easier. In my next writing
maybe I will discuss about spiritual ascension.

ENTERING PROPHETIC STATE

T
o enter the prophetic state requires discipline. Paul the apostle is among those who
achieved a very high spiritual life in Christ, one of His spiritual accomplishments was
visitation of the third heavens (2Cor12). Paul didn't achieve his prophetic level without a
price; in one his of epistles Paul says, I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ
Jesus our Lord, I die daily. (1Cor, 1:31.1Cor, 9:26-27). From these scriptures we can see
that Paul thoroughly disciplined his flesh in order to live a pure spiritual life. If we are going to live
an elevated spiritual life in Christ we must do likewise, the world has to be crucified to us, and we
to the world. We must undergo certain spiritual discipline to achieve the prophetic state.

* ASTING AND PRAYING: One the most powerful spiritual disciplines is fasting; especially “dry

fasting” (not eating or drinking anything at all for some days). Most people prefer to do what they
call “six to six” or “6 to12”, but I encourage anyone who wants to fast, to try dry fasting or at least
fast only with water, because there is a great spiritual benefit in it. Moses, Elijah, and Jesus
fasted for forty days and forty nights. By frequently practicing dry fasting we can crucify the
flesh and walk in a very high dimension of holiness. It can also help to set in motion the
revelatory spirit in us. When you practice dry fasting your prophetic dreams, visions and level of
revelation will change; you will begin to receive more clear and meaningful dreams and visions.
In addition, fasting will help us to understand sacred texts better when we study. Beside setting
some days apart to fast, it’s also good to develop a (daily) fasting lifestyle, it is not necessary to
eat three times a day, we can train ourselves to eat once a day, or sometimes live only by
beverages, etc….

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his
meat was locusts and wild honey. (Mat 3:1-3)

And we shouldn’t forget that fasting must be accompanied by prayer; we can’t just starve
ourselves for nothing and call it fasting, we must pray during our period of fasting, and the kind
of prayer I’m referring to isn't shouting and disturbing our neighbors, I’m talking about speaking
to God internally and God talking back to us in secret. Oftentimes effective prayer is done within
us; a true person of prayer or someone who understands prayer prays continuously internally.

* MEDITATION; Fasting will oftentimes help to break the outward man and sharpen our spirit
man to be in constant mediation mode, for the sake of those who are not familiar with
“meditation”, it is spiritual concentration of God’s divine revelation that one perceives with the
eyes of the heart, it’s one of the ways that one can access the spiritual realm, or to operate above
this material world. Christian meditation is different from “occult, trans and yoga” kinds of
meditations. Holy meditation is guided by God’s principle of Holiness. In holy meditation; you
don’t apply any technique that is contrary to God’s commandments. For instance, Holy
meditation doesn’t involve invocation or conjuration of unknown spiritual entities and angels.
Since Jesus Christ has already paved the way for us by given us the Holy Spirit, we don’t need to
develop the so called “Chakra” and chant “Mantra” using strange names….

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions like the pagans, for they think they will be heard
because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you
ask him (Mat 6:7).

Jesus says we shouldn’t pray like the pagan, pagans are followers of a polytheistic religion,
including other religions that know not Yahweh the God of Israel, like the “Hindus, Jainism,
Buddha, Eckankar etc” during their prayer or meditation they continually repeat names of deities
or unknown spiritual beings. By the help of the Holy Spirit we can access any spiritual height in
God; our highest mantra is to sing spiritual songs of praise and worship to the Living God, not to
chant names of unknown spiritual beings. Also, in some ungodly meditation, when people
achieve release from their physical body, they will surrender their soul to a spiritual being (a
demonic entity) in the cosmic world who will possess them and take them on an astral tour,
however in holy meditation such practices are forbidden (Deut 18:9-13). In Holy meditation when
one achieves the prophetic state, or enters the realm of stillness through the help of the Holy
Spirit, it is possible to communicate with God’s holy angels or the glorified saints such as Enoch,
Moses, Elijah and so many others. For example, during the transfiguration Moses and Elijah
appeared to Jesus Christ (Mat 17). And the angel who led John around the spirit world and
showed all the mysteries confined in the book or revelation didn’t reveal himself as angel Gabriel
or Michael, he considered himself to be as a fellow servant of God like other prophets which is
possible to be Elijah, Enoch or other prophets who had attained a higher spiritual height than
John on the other side (Rev 19:10, 22:8-9). These holy messengers are there to educate the
righteous souls coming into spirit realm not to posses them. 

PRACTICING MEDITATION

M ost think that holy meditation is all about sitting down quietly to recite bible verses in
our mind; however meditation goes beyond contemplation, to make meditation
effective we must learn how to put all the wondering thoughts in our mind under
control. To achieve this, you must choose a place comfortable for you where no one
can interrupt or disturb your peace, maybe a clean and quiet garden, park, beach, sand field,
mountain, grass land, desert, or even a separate room in your house, etc. 

* Luke 6:12: And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus went out into a mountain to pray, and

continued all night in prayer to God.

When you have found a quiet place go there and assume a position suitable for you, it doesn’t
have to be the so called “Lotus position”, some people prefer to walk around while they pray and
meditate…
* Genesis 24:63: And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his
eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

Sometimes listening to spiritual music can be of great help in meditation. Music can put joy and
happiness in your heart which your spirit needs off course to journey into the spiritual worlds…

* 2Kings3: Now bring me a musician.”As the musician played, the hand of the LORD rested on
Elisha, so he said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Fill this valley with trench after trench!’ 

* 1Sam10:5-6: After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines:
and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company
of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp,
before them; and they shall prophesy: and the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt
prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. 
After you've assumed a position, visualize or concentrate, which simply entails making use your
inner eyes or the eyes of your heart. Certainly we can’t live a true spiritual life without making use
of our internal sight….

* So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal.(2Cor4:18)
Our physical eyes can only see things that are within the mortal sphere, while the unseen
substance can only be viewed by our inner sight. In meditation, it will be difficult to achieve
internal isolation, or complete silence and stillness in our mind without visualization; you must
have something to look at or focus on spiritually that will take other thoughts away from your
mind. King David says….
* I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad (Psalm119:96).

During meditation King David viewed beyond dominion, sinless and permanent perfection, he
thought he could perceive the highest level of light in God. Such profound visualization can help
one put all wondering thoughts under control.

TRY BASIC VISUALIZATION: Cease from doing everything and assume a position that’s suitable
for you; keep still and if you like close your eyes to avoid physical distractions. Now envision the
type of environment that you’d like to be in that helps you achieve some level of inner peace,
such as a different spiritual realm, a beautiful garden, an uninhabited beach or perhaps a park or
a desert, a mountain, grass land, or even your private study or prayer room. Visualize yourself
quietly in that place viewing nature and talking to God or doing otherwise, try to hold that image
in your mind at least 2-5 minutes, if you do it correctly you will realize that all wondering thoughts
or noise in your mind will begin to vanish, and you feel a sense of peace within yourself. By the
help of the Holy Spirit we can improve ourselves on this to the point that through visualization we
can travel spiritually to a far place to lay hands on and pray for sick people, or do other spiritual
work that will glorify God, but this requires a certain level of faith to achieve. If you spiritually
perceive or visualize yourself laying hands on and praying for your family members in far a
country, you must believe that vision, and then supply or channel all of your energy with the Spirit
of Christ in you, that’s what Paul meant when he wrote……

*For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of
Jesus Christ (Philip 1:19).
People who know how to pray don’t just utter empty words in the air; first you spiritually visualize
the things that you’re praying for and then release a spiritual force through the power of Christ in
you. You can be where you are right now and simultaneously your spirit (through the power of
eternal Spirit of Jesus Christ) can be somewhere else doing some marvelous spiritual works that
will magnify the name of Christ……
*For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present
with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who
has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our
Lord Jesus is present. (1Cor 5:3-4)

*When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?”
“Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered. But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with
you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? (2Kings5:25-26)
This is awesome, Elisha was at his house physically, but spiritually followed his servant Gehazi to
wherever he went and Paul did likewise. Fear is the greatest problem preventing most Christians
from achieving a high level of spirituality in Christ and unfortunately, when most people

(Christians in particular) see or hear something they don’t understand they call it witchcraft or
occult practice. We really need to regain our spiritual tradition; it’s past time for us to graduate
from telling bible stories to become real spiritual people. To survive spiritually in this present
time we must separate ourselves so that we can operate in a high prophetic frequency and
overcome the devil and his human agents.
*And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they
loved not their lives unto the death. (Rev12:11). 
"The word of their testimony" as used in the above script doesn't mean giving testimonies in
Christian assemblies (church) about new cars, jobs and large houses; the word of our testimony
represents the prophetic Spirit of Christ; And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto
me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of
Jesus: worship God: for THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS IS THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY.(Rev19:10).
We will overcome by the spirit of Prophecy. Peace be unto you all!
