General Guidelines:
1. Mingle and be as sociable as you can be. Start with something like "Hi. I'm
_____. I'm from PDA. (shake hands here) What's your name?"
NOTE: Other things you can ask to start a conversation. Pick out something that
would be an interesting topic: undergraduate course, school, kung ano man ang
mukha silang masayang pag-usapan.
2. Start small talk and get into a jovial and interesting conversation with your
prospect/s.
3. Find things that you share with your prospect/s and elaborate on that. i.e.,
favorite series, same profs you had or subjects you've taken, common friends,
etc.
4. Establish a friendly but confident and trustworthy impression with your
prospect/s.
5. Ibida ang Sorority: the situations wherein the sisters and/or the values you
learned in the Sorority helped you through.
NOTE: We do this in a manner na hindi "hardsell", may agenda pero hindi halata.
parang nagki-kwento lang pero sincere and passionate. parang gumagamit ka ng
isang product na effective at hinihikayat mo yung kausap mo na gumamit rin,
something like that. :)
1. We are the Phi Delta Alpha Sorority. PDA stands for Prudence and Dignity in all
Actions. Prudence is... , Dignity is.....
2. We are on our 56th year this 2013 since our establishment in July 17, 1957.
3. We are affiliated with the Alpha Phi Beta Fraternity of the UP College of
Law. But we are a separate entity. We have our own Constitution, our own
officers, we are recognized by the OSA as a separate organization. They are our
counterpart fraternity but we are independent from them. Though ofcourse, as
brods and sisses, we help each other out, parang magkakapatid, especially in
activities like conducting bar operations for brods and sisses who take the bar
exam or training the brods and sisses in areas like marketing, writing and
debate, for example.
Social Involvement - As "iskolars ng bayan", part of our fees is paid for from
taxpayers' money. As a premier state university and with the quality of education
that we get here in UP (be careful with this when you are talking to students who
are from other schools during their undergraduate or part of their undergraduate
courses. we wouldn't want to sound mayabang), the cost of education is
relatively low when you compare it with other premier universities. This is a
privilege and with this privilege that we are enjoying, it is rightful to give back to
the society, by being active, critical citizens of the country and helping the
people through our activities.
6. What do we do? We have activities that revolve around our 3 thrusts. (Give a
run-down.)
August - UP Open Debate (contender in finals last year, only sorority that is
active in the Open Debate)
7. Others:
We have been awarded the Grand Sorority Award by the OSA (in 1996, I think.
Wag nalang i-mention muna ang year dahil hindi sure kung kailan, we have yet to
check.)
We've had the Dorm Tour (2006) - catered to dormers, held different personality
development seminars for them
If they ask about the initiation process, these are the things that you can say:
1. the Transgressions
no public humiliation
no blood money
no abuse of intellectual capabilities
no leaving of permanent physical marks
3. time-frame for the initiation process: depends on how she does with the
understanding of the principles and values. We've had sisters na natapos in 3
days, merong mga 2 weeks. The MI will gauge and consider if she is ready.
*For questions and help, lumapit lang sa akin, sa MI o sa senior sis. Remember,
as LC Raina says, to put your best foot forward. KAILANGAN NATIN MAG-
RECRUIT, SISTERS. I'm sure you understand why.
