َ ‫ﻀﺎﻑ ُﻣ‬
joins a noun then we get ‫ﻀﺎﻑ ِﺇﻟَﻴ ِﻪ‬ َ ‫ ُﻣ‬. See example below.

Understanding Ya-Mutakallim (Seq # 25)

The letter ‫ ﻱ‬is Ya Mutakallim (Ya of First person). It is the attached personal
pronoun for the detached personal pronoun ‫ﺃَﻧَــﺎ‬. Consider the below table.

‫ ﺃَﻧَــﺎ = ﺑَــﻴْــﺘِــﻲ‬+ ُ‫ﺑَــﻴْــﺖ‬

In the phrase ‫ ﺑَــﻴْــ ِﺘــﻲ‬there are two words. Its translation is “my house”. The house
(‫ )ﺑَﻴﺖ‬in this phrase is ‫ﻉ‬ ْ ُ‫ــﺮﻓ‬
ٌ ‫ــﻮ‬ ْ ‫ َﻣ‬. But because of the power Ya Mutakallim, the
dammah of ُ‫ ﺑَــﻴْــﺖ‬becomes kathrah. Thus ُ‫ ﺑَــﻴْــﺖ‬in ‫ ﺑَــﻴْــﺘِــﻲ‬is ‫ﻉ‬ ْ ُ‫ــﺮﻓ‬
ٌ ‫ــﻮ‬ ْ ‫ َﻣ‬. This same thing
applies to all the Muzaaf Muzaaf iliahi’s with Ya Mutakallim. Such a thing our
eyes cannot see but our mind can see if we understand.

Preposition before Muzaaf Muzaaf ilaihi (Seq # 27)

This topic is very important to understand. We know that, the preposition will
make the noun after it into ‫ َﻣﺠْ ُﺮﻭﺭ‬case. So if preposition comes before ‫ﻀﺎﻑ‬
َ ‫ﻀﺎﻑ ُﻣ‬
َ ‫ُﻣ‬
‫ ِﺇﻟَﻴﻪ‬then it will make ‫ﻀﺎﻑ‬
َ ‫ ُﻣ‬into ‫ َﻣﺠْ ُﺮﻭﺭ‬case. Example is below.

In the path of Allah ِ‫ﺳ ِﺒ ْﻴ ِﻞ ﷲ‬ َ ‫ﺳ ِﺒ ْﻴ ُﻞ ﷲِ = ﻓِﻲ‬ َ + ‫ﻓِﻲ‬

In night of the decree ‫ ﻟَ ْﻴﻠَﺔُ ْﺍﻟﻘَﺪ ِْﺭ = ﻓِﻲ ﻟَ ْﻴﻠَ ِﺔ ْﺍﻟﻘَﺪ ِْﺭ‬+ ‫ﻓِﻲ‬
In your book َ‫ِﻛﺘ َﺎﺑُﻚَ = ﻓِﻲ ِﻛﺘ َﺎﺑِﻚ‬ + ‫ﻓِﻲ‬

Exercises

State TRUE or FALSE: The phrase ‫( ِﻣ ْﻦ ﺃَﻳَﺎﺗِﻨَﺎ‬from our signs/verses) in the

verse Quran (15:18:9) has both ‫ َﺟﺎﺭ َﻣﺠْ ُﺮﻭﺭ‬and ‫ﻀﺎﻑ ِﺇﻟَﻴﻪ‬ َ ‫ ُﻣ‬.
