Thankyou, John Fellin Removing grounds from hoist motor with Heat
One method used in removing grounds from a water
damaged hoist motor commutator is by applying heat. This 240 VAC toaster draws from 30,000 to 40,000 watts. As the photo shows this toaster sat right up againt the commutator for 24 hours. The following day the toaster was positioned to the opposite side. The megger readings at the time of this photo jumped from ground and is currently holding in the Megohm range. Although infinity is my ideal goal, if the hoist motor maintains a megohm range it will be put back into service as the company always has the final say.
