During this activity, students will be using the app
Mindly to demonstrate their knowledge about the
major states and empires. During the introduction
of this assignment, students will listen to a brief
description from the teacher about which app to
download and how it works. In order to show the
students what is expected, the teacher will make a
very short example of major states and empires.
From there, teacher will show students how to add
more information.

knowledge of the impact of the European
Age of Discovery and expansion into the
Americas, Africa, and Asia by
c) explaining migration, settlement patterns,
cultural diffusion, and social classes in the
colonized areas;
Students will be divided into groups. Depending on
which group students are in, they will either focus
on migration, settlement patterns, cultural
diffusion, or social classes in the areas that were
colonized. One students are set up in their groups,
the teacher will show each group how to download
the app, sign up, and how to set up sharing so that
everyone is able to work on the project even when
they are not together. Once the app is downloaded,
students will sign up via- email (with the help of
the teacher) or they can sign up via phone number.

Students will create a mind map of the different
states and empires, explain their location and
providing a picture of their location as well.
Students will also provide brief descriptions about
each state and empire. These items will be ranging
from length of ruling to major rulers. They will also
cover short examples of trade, politics, culture, and
the economic state of that empire. They will also
list any questions that they may have about the
state or empire.

Once they receive the verification code, students
are able to start working on their projects. Students
will write journal entries from the time period.
Depending on which area students are focusing on,
they will write in that perspective. For example, if a
group of students is focusing on migration, they
could write it from the perspective of either a
person who come from Europe and colonized the
area, or as a person who witnessed European
colonization. Students will also include their own
drawings into the journal entries. Upon finishing
this group work, students will do a short
presentation to the class.
