Dear Friend,
Warm Christian greetings to you on this beautiful day. I trust
you are looking to Jesus, “…the author and finisher of our faith.” No matter
what we face, with Jesus Christ in our lives we can be more than conquerors
through Him who loves us! And He proved His love for us when He died on the
cross for our sins. We are liberated from the power of sin through Christ, but
though we are liberated to do what we will, our freedom in Christ came by a great
cost. God gave heavens best for you and me to be saved and enjoy eternal life!
The Lord has been moving in a wonderful way at church. We hear of so
many things happening in the world but God always makes a way for His people!
Many are worried about the condition our country is in; the wars and rumors of
wars, the financial condition of America, the eroding morals, etc. but Jesus told us
when we see all these things taking place to, “…look up and lift up your heads;
for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28). We may be tempted to be
discouraged or downcast, but don’t! He said to look up! It is better to do what our
heavenly Father tells us to do than to do what we feel like doing. He knows best!
When I was a child I had to do what my parents told me to do whether I liked it or
not. They knew what was best for me. If I did what they said things went well. But
sometimes I didn’t listen and things wound up not going so good for poor little ole
me! A lady at church once told me about the direction her daughter was traveling
and said, “I’ve been down that road and back before she even knew about that
road, and it’s a dead end!” Our heavenly Father knows what’s best for us because
the Bible says He knows the end from the beginning. He makes no mistakes
concerning you and me. If we would listen to His voice and hearken to His Words
we will be blessed and there will be no occasion for stumbling in us.
Maybe you have found yourself in a position where you made mistakes and
don’t feel like you can turn things around. Let me encourage you to turn to the
Lord Jesus with all your heart because He is merciful, ready to forgive and
prepared to bless you! I heard a man recently say that David, the man who wrote
the 23rd Psalm, never wrote, “Surely goodness and justice shall follow me all the
days of my life.” He said Americans are all about justice: getting the bad guy and
making wrongs right. David didn’t write that because David knew he deserved
judgment for some of the things he did. But David wrote, “Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” The mercies of God are extended
to those who understand their need of Jesus Christ being Lord and Savior. When
we receive God’s mercies, which are new every morning, we aren’t just let off the
hook for our errors: we realize He generously gives us mercies because He paid a
high price for them. They are His to give and they are an expression of His great
love for each of us. We deserve justice but instead He gives us mercy. He calls to
every person: sinner, backslider, those who love Him but are struggling under the
weight of guilt or unbelief, or those who have been caught up in the things of the
world: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Those that come to Him, the Bible assures us that He
will in no wise cast out! Maybe you have sinned and your heart smites you every
time you even think about going to church to approach the Lord. His Word gives
us the assurance that Jesus paid the debt for that sin and gives us access to the
throne of God. The Bible says, “But where sin abounded, grace did much more
abound” (Romans 5:20). He has grace, mercy and peace for everyone who
comes to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Don’t delay: He has called you to
Himself! He loves you and will save you, forgive you, heal you, and make you
whole when you come to Him with all your heart! The altar is open for you. Now
is the time to turn to Him. Open your heart and ask Him to come in right now as
you read these words. He will hear your heart’s cry!
If you have a church, love it, pray for it and support it and serve the Lord
with gladness there. If you don’t have a church I invite you to ours. We are the
