In the above plot, the solution as function of x (at 0 th order

polynomial) is a constant. Hence, the solution φ(x) = constant which
will be a straight along x-axis where constant’s value will be equal to
a0 .

From the result obtained, we can clearly observe the sudden rise
in both solution and residual solution at the discretizing point (x=
1.5).
This sudden rise occurs due to discretization of domain into two
elements .This can be rectified by discretizing the domain into more
elements(i.e., 3,4,5 etc..) so that the sudden rise will be minimised at
multiple discretization points and the plot will be nearly same to that
of the solution obtained without discretization.
3.
Assumed material parameters and geometric dimensions are
q = 1800 N/m ; E= 11GPa; L= 1m;
Cross sectional area = 50 x 200 mm2 ; I= 3.33 x 107 mm4
Where q= uniformly distributed load in N/m
E= Modulus of elasticity in GPa
L= length of the beam in metres
I= Area Moment of inertia in mm4
