1. This originally means the love of wisdom, and in a broad sense, wisdom is still
the goal of Philosophy.
2. This sets the distinction between philosophy and other sciences. All other
sciences concern themselves with a particular object of investigation.
3. It is a science because the investigation is systematic. It follows certain steps
or it employs certain procedures.
4. An extension of a fundamental and necessary drive in every human being to
know what is real.
5. Whatever is it; and whatever is not is not; everything is what it is. Everything
is in its own being, and not being is not being.
6. Nothing exists without a sufficient reason for its being and existence.
7. This is an emotively neutral term to dull the force of what they say and make
acceptable what otherwise might not be.
