Industrial Engagement Reflection

Nature of talk
The two industrial talks that I have attended to this past term for FP2 are

Going to Singapore Institute of Management for the workshop talk about Cyber Security from
various cyber security companies in Singapore and also about our future career with
representatives sponsored by well-known of universities in Singapore if we are interested in
pursuing future studies.

And the second industrial talk which I also attended is the Data Visualization workshop talk by
Mr Ahmad Sholehin, Director and Founder of Muddlab Pte Ltd Singapore in Ngee Ann
Polytechnic because I am a Data Visualization student in Ngee Ann Polytechnic which I selected
for my elective of the term. Therefore, going to this talk will give me a better view about how
visualization works and how hard it is to make visualization from scratch taking months to make
a good and productive one.

The talk about Cyber Security in SIM is about how the various people of different company
starts working in their respective cyber security company on their first day of work until present
which is the on the day they gave us this talk. Firstly some representative starts off with giving a
story on how they started out in this sector by saying how much they love the cyber net and
how, what they did to protect their cyberspace with different methods to protect sensitive data
and their company’s security from outsiders which we might have learnt them during our time
in Ngee Ann as we are in Information Technology which also includes Information Security
which is somehow related to Cyber Security in a sense.

Also there’s a talk from various university representative sponsor by well-known overseas
universities such as University of London, University of Wollongong Australia and The University
of Warwick about the university, requirements to enter, General/Assessment/Programme
structures, Course fees to keep us well informed if we are interested in joining them in pursuing
further studies and lastly their Student’s life in campus.
