department is also planning some infrastructure on the site on its own.
"Our department and the state government as a whole are giving impetus to the project as it is
the largest tourism plan in the state. All basic infrastructure are ready," said tourism minister
Gautam Deb.
That the state is focussing on the site was evident as recently, a delegation of Indian and
foreign tour operators were brought to the site and apprised of the project.
The department wants NGOs, which are expert in conducting such activities, to be assigned
with the task of preparing a comprehensive plan to run such facilities and explore options to
engage local youths.
"All such activities can be conducted throughout the year. These would be added attractions
for tourists visiting 'Bhorer Alo' and can increase the footfall of tourists without disturbing
the natural ecosystem," said an official.
The department has also planned a road that would connect it with the Bengal Safari Park,
located off NH31, and on Siliguri outskirts.
