a) It’s a present continuous tense. Indicates an irritating behavior that might end some day
Here the verb ‘combs’ is his part of routine. It’s a present tense
b) Present tense .Its a fact/information about the person
Present continuous tense. Refers to an action she is currently doing
c) The past participle of verb ‘have’ is used to indicate the action in past tense. The action is
completed long back.
Present perfect tense : Here the action is completed few minutes back. The verb have acts as an
auxillary verb. ‘had’ acts a past participle of main verb ‘have’
d) Both the sentences have more than one verb.In some cases the first verb is followed by the
second verb with “to” (to + verb : Infinitive) while other case the second verb follows the first
with “ing” (verb + ing : Gerund)
In the first case the verb stopped is followed by infinitive verb . The meaning of the sentence is
the person stopped doing an action (may be the person stopped moving or stopped walking ) to
do another action (to listen to the music)
While in the second sentence the verb stopped is followed by gerund .The meaning of the
sentence is different from the first.
She was listening to music , now she doesn’t.
