Actix Setup Guideline

Initial setup and GNG Report creation

Introduction
• The presentation will show all the steps needed to post
process Agilent data using Actix and create GNG report

• Explain steps for how to create

- Mapinfo Cluster boundary
- Celref file
- Network image from Cingular package
- Repository from Cingular package
- GNG report
- Threshold Settings ( check before running Actix)
Steps for Setting up Actix Machine
Create folder
Step 1. Create folder “MapFiles” on the path below if it doesn’t exist. Update
CingularProject001 map file with respective market polygon (should have
cluster ID and can be selected as region). Copy map file in two places:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Data\Actix\Analyzer\MapFiles
C:\Program Files\Actix\Analyzer\MapFiles

Step 2. Need to put CellRef file for the respective market in the following
place:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Data\Actix\Analyzer\Bin\CellRefs

Step 3. Make sure that Actix should have the latest Network Image
Templates and GNG package for GNG, IRAT and Repository in these
folders:

IRAT:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

IRAT_for_PLOTS_NEW.xml

Repository:
C:\Program Files\Actix\Analyzer\Packages\ CingularPackage.apg

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Step 1 – Setup MapInfo Cluster Boundary
• To create GNG cluster reports Acitx uses specific mapfiles to
identify cluster names and boundaries.
• MapInfo files are stored under the ctc-server/markets/Actix
Map/Mapfiles. Copy the 5 files named CingularProject001 to
your local C drive on the Actix machine.

• Copy market clusters to this master CingularProject001 map

file. Cluster polygon should be region type with cluster ID
assigned. Save CingularProject001 in two places:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Data\Actix\Analyzer\MapFiles
C:\Program Files\Actix\Analyzer\MapFiles

• Actix needs to be restared before these mapfiles are loaded

Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File

1. Take TEMS Cell File and delete first line from that file.
2. Save that file as txt extension.
3. In Actix, Click on Cells / Network Explorer:
Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
4. Right Click on Network Explorer, click import and click Import
from New Template.
Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
5. Import saved TXT
Cell file.

6. Give Template name

and click Next.
Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
7. Match all the “Key Sign” and “! Mark” field in WCDMA_Cell from drop down
menu.
Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
8. Match all the “Key Sign” and “! Mark” field in WCDMA_Site from drop down
menu.
Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
9. Click Finish

10. Click yes to the prompt dialogue box.

Step 2 – Create Cell Ref File
11. Close Network explorer window and click yes for the prompt dialogue box.
Step 3 – Create GNG Network image

1. Click Network Image, click create Network Image.

Step 3 – Create GNG Network image
2. Select NetworkImageTemplate___CingularGNG_114,
and your desired name to the file. When click OK it will ask
you to save, save on desired location.
Step 3 – Create GNG Network image

3. GNG Network Image will appear under Network Image.

Right Click on it and click Batch load Files.
Step 3 – Create GNG Network image
4. Select all log files (with *.sd5) from the folder and click open,
which will start loading the files.
Step 3 – Create GNG Network image
5. When processing is done, check for the Result which should say “OK”
and then Click OK on the window.
Create GNG Report using Network image

1. Click on Workbook and “Workbook____CingularGNG_v1.33(Nov17_06)

Create GNG Report using Network image
2. Click “AllStreams” and click OK. Repeat this two more times to get the
GNG Excel Report. Report will pop up in Excel workbook automatically.
Create GNG Report using Network image

The report will not contain IRAT maps at this moment. In order
to produce IRAT plots another network image for IRAT is needed

1. Click Network Image, click create Network Image.

Create GNG Report using Network image
2. Select IRAT_for_PLOTS_NEW, and your desired name to the
file. When click OK it will ask you to save, save on desired location.

5. When processing is done, check for the Result which should say “OK”
and then Click OK on the window.
Create GNG Report using Repository
Often times better GNG result is seen for packet calls by
Running report using Repository instead of network image

Create repository is explained in steps 1 through 7

1. Click Repository, click Create Repository.

Create GNG Report using Repository

2. Give desired name, select “RT_____CingularGNG_014” template from

drop down menu (check the latest template if updated). Click “Create & Open”.

How to create Network template

Introduction
• It can be very time consuming to load all Actix logfiles for a
complete drive and then superstream them.

• If a plot is needed, showing a particular attribute not included in the

Cingular Network Image, a custom Network Image extracting the
particular attribute will often prove faster than the superstream
alternative.

• These instructions will show how to create a custom Network

Image extracting the Technology Mode attribute for the MOC and
MTC UEs which are not included in the Cingular Network Image.

• Note that a custom Network Image like this is only useful for
plotting the included attributes (it can NOT be used to create GNG-
reports) and that all logfiles need to be batched again if attributes
are changed.
Device and Filters (explained later)
• Scanner
E6458C-100 (GSM/UMTS 850/1900) Receiver {UMTSScanner}

• CS MOC
OEM (Qualcomm SURF6275 chipset) phone {GNG1-CSShortMO}

• CS MTC
OEM (Qualcomm SURF6275 chipset) phone {GNG1-CSShortMT}

• PS R99
OEM (Qualcomm SURF6275 chipset) phone {GNG2-UMTSPSDL}

• PS HSDPA
OEM (Qualcomm SURF6275 chipset) phone {GNG1-
UMHSPSLong}
Network Image Template Wizard
• Open the Network Image Template Wizard
under Network Image in the Actix menu.
Network Image Template Wizard
• Another Network Image can be used as input to the new
but these instructions will show the procedure without
any input.
Network Image Template Wizard
• Enter the device name, e.g. MOC, MTC, PS R99 or PS HSDPA, and a filter
corresponding to the device. The filter should be a unique string from the
device name in the logfiles, e.g. CSShortMO, CSShortMT, UMTSPSDL or
UMHSPSLong, please see slide 3.
Network Image Template Wizard
• Add the wanted attributes the each device.

Create Network Image
• Save the Network Image Template, e.g. in the default folder and the
Network Image Template can then be found when creating a new
Network Image under Network Image in the Actix menu as shown in
next slide.
Create Network Image
• Create a new Network Image as usual and you will be able to plot
the chosen attributes instead of the superstream all logfiles.
