achieve.
 What you struggled with or found frustrating and how you managed that.
 What you have learnt about working with others. What you learnt about yourself?
 How this activity will inform your future CAS activities.

LO1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills,
of which some are more developed than others.

Creative subjects such as music have never been my strong point. Therefore, I had multiple
areas for growth when I chose to do this activity. I have played a little bit of guitar, so I was
aware of how to read music to some extent. However, the skill of using my hands needed a lot
of work, that is what I wanted to achieve.

LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the
process
A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one.
The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the
student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established
area.
Many challenges have been undertaken as this experience of learning music from a teacher was
an unfamiliar experience to me. Previously, I had done some free-lance guitar playing. I found
learning the keyboard frustrating at times. For me it requires a lot of time and effort, which
often was not possible during exam times. During these periods my skill development declined,
which was a struggle as I felt that I had to start all over again after working so hard. I learnt to be
more patient and to ask questions to my teacher as I am usually a very shy person.

LO3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to executing a plan for a
CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This may be accomplished in
collaboration with other participants. Students may show their knowledge and
awareness by building on a previous experience, or by launching a new idea or process.

LO4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

I played the keyboard for on average an hour every week and participated in lessons on Friday
nights for another hour. I did this for over a year. Therefore, I was devoted and committed in
learning the keyboard and through my frustration I preserved.

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and
challenges of collaboration gained through CAS experiences.

LO6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Students are able to identify and demonstrate their understanding of global issues,
make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action in response to the issue,
locally, nationally or internationally.

LO7 Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Students show awareness of the consequences of choices and actions in planning and
carrying out CAS experiences.
