SAP is the world's largest business management software company and the third-largest
independent software provider in terms of revenues. Even though the competition is quite fierce
with a lot of new entrants in the marketplace from large and small vendors, SAP is still a leader
in the enterprise software space. Some of the competitors being Microsoft Dynamics AX,
Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage 100 etc.
SAP ERP system is scalable, customizable and adaptable, simplifying integration with other
third-party applications. It fits in with the evolving business requirements of enterprises and is
highly scalable. This gives the enterprise a competitive edge in the market. SAP assures
affordability and ensures business to utilize the most of their IT budget. It helps align the
strategies with the operations while offering trade-specific solutions. The architecture of the
SAP ERP system is robust. It is process-centric and has a flexible foundation that operates with
the enterprise-wide business process on the basis of real-time communication. SAP has a vast
array of strongly integrated modules, and it interacts better with third-party tools compared to
other ERP products.
SAP implementations runs for months and are highly expensive. So a mid-size industry who is
only into financial services may not go for SAP but rather choose other product which has
better name in providing financial tools and services.
