DOMAIN 1: Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
Domain 1 recognizes the importance of teachers’ mastery of content knowledge and its
interconnectedness within and across curriculum areas, couple with a sound and critical understanding of the
application of theories and principles of teaching and learning. This domain encompasses teachers’ ability to
apply developmentally appropriate and meaningful pedagogy grounded on content knowledge and current
research. It takes into account teachers’ proficiency in Mother Tongue, Filipino and English in the teaching
and learning process, as well as needed skills in the use of communication strategies, teaching strategies, and
technologies to promote high- quality learning outcomes.

DOMAIN 1: Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
Domain 1 recognizes the importance of teachers’ mastery of content knowledge and its

application of theories and principles of teaching and learning. This domain encompasses teachers’ ability to

ANNOTATION
In the 21st century learning, many students have no interest in reading long
literary text like novels, lit folios, chic lit, etc., so as a Filipino teacher I should be
the one to teach students to read or to divert their attention in understanding and
analyzing one’s novel or literary form. I used this module (Kayumanggi: Noli Me
Tangere) because I believe that it may provide and direct my students to read,
comprehend, and apply their learnings in the real life situations. I want to hook
their interest in reading because it can be the key for learning. I know that this
novel was very long, so in our department we used this module as a springboard
and also a workbook for the students. It was divided into different dimension
which can be a guide for teaching various chapter in every session. It has “tuklasin,
linangin, pagnilayan at unawain, and ilapat, that can help teachers to get the gist
of the lesson and also to achieve different objectives that are needed to develop
the learner’s abilitiy. But, there are times that it only used by teachers as a reading
materials in teaching Filipino literature. At the end of the term, students should
submit it with answers in every activity that will serve as a project in my course.
