Task 1:
Write an SOP for Konsult Membership. Highlight your USP and what do you
plan to bring to the table for Konsult (max. 400 words).
Even at the risk of sounding clichéd – I would claim that I LOVE problem-solving &
I am deeply passionate about Consulting (esp. strategy Consulting). I love the
intellectually diverse & multi-dimensional problems consulting exposes one to. The
big -picture approach, the planning, the discussions, the intellectual teamwork -
everything. I love it when people approach the problem from diverse perspectives &
logically battle it out to - jointly - reach to the 'best solution'. I plan to take
Consulting (& Strategy) as my career in the future & I am sure that being a part of
the coveted KONSULT group would provide me a great platform for the same. I
would love to learn - form the seniors, faculty, the guests, the resources &
expertise accumulated by KONSULT over the years.
But as is expected from a good consultant -I would like to make a logical , fact –
based, analytical claim to my membership in my dream interest group.
Adding to above, I understand that Consulting requires a highly analytical mind that
approaches a problem comprehensively yet dissects it into its details & comes up
with a logical & systematic 'solution'. I can safely claim that my training at IITR has
equipped me with above skills. Infact, I love the above so much that puzzles &
problem-solving happens to be my favorite hobby as well.
This is further complimented by the fact that I have worked as (Mathematics &
Physics) teacher for two years. This enables me to 'express & explain' complex
ideas & problems by breaking them into simple terms / concepts – a talent that
comes in pretty handy when discussing complex managerial problems with peers.
Adding to my above claims – I also claim to have a very diverse & rich knowledge
bank; something that really helps in dealing with the diverse problems that
consulting throws at you. I have prepared for (and almost cleared) the Civils exam
multiple times. This preparation requires one to undergo diverse knowledge
gathering – which I can very well apply – be it a public sector engagement on
energy project by Indian govt or a negotiation under international treaty of WTO or
ASEAN – I will have something to contribute. Always.
I feel the above facts satisfactorily explain & justifies my interest & claim to a
membership in my dream group.
Really really looking forward to having a great learning experience in the KONSULT.
Yours sincerely,
Pranav Shekhar.
