NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY (Genre)-It includes the natural scenery as seen through

the photographer’s eyes.

The reason behind this theme is FLOOD IN KERALA.

According to a study from researchers at the IISc (past in 2016-17), widespread
deforestation, especially in the high northern latitudes badly affect the monsoon
graph all over India.
LA1050: INTRODUCTION TO WESTERN ART

THEME

This image pictures the modern relationship between Nature and Humans. The
trunk of the tree slightly bent towards the diagonal, and the moving car which
impersonates modern humans is moving in the direction opposite to the bent-
trunk direction, mimics the ignorance of nature by human beings.
OBSERVATIONS:
1. Golden Triangle: The frame partitioned into four triangles of two different
sizes. The most prominent visual design element is the diagonal line follows
the trunk to the frame’s corner. The moving car fills the right smaller
triangle; the other subject is a diagonal element which runs along a
perpendicular side of the left smaller triangle. The inclined trunk with a
breeze or strong wind balances the whole ideology of ignorance.

2. Rule of Thirds is used to place (approximately) the subjects.

a. Eyes are drawn to the moving car because it is the only primary subject in
the 1/3rd of the vertical grid and the dark appearance as compared to the
surroundings. This contrast gives it much visual weight, despite being
adjacent to the humongous subject.
b. Moving car- movement adds interest to the image by conferring action and
drawing the viewers eye throughout the second horizontal line which divides
the image in 2:1 composition (rule of third)
c. White curved patterns in the shape of the tree on the ground are excellent
visual design elements which provide an extra composition feature in the
middle grid.
d. The white dais (placed at the intersection point) serves as a critical point for
the subject by balancing the colour transition from red to its complementary
green.
e. Ribbons of sand on the road enhances surface quality by providing an
attractive texture (rough + curved lines) to the lower 1/3rd of the horizontal
grid. Its give an insight of timelessness and adds value to the image because
of the transition from dark black road to the light blue sky.

3. The most robust visual design element composition is the Pyramid; it gives
the image stability, social and natural composition. The white dais (centroid
of the triangular base) makes the pattern balanced and symmetrical.

“The moving car is pulling one corner of the base, which unbalanced the
symmetrical structure, depicts the disturbance in NATURAL HARMONY by the
greedy and self-centred human activities.”

NOTE: i.e. why the moving human-made object has been chosen as a subject
instead of static human-made or natural object.
