MIDAS-XRC: Replacement

Mechanical work on the new scanner.

- Remove the cover with the cooling circuit from the new scanner.

Be careful! Do not damage the electronic card and the pass tube.

Electrical work:

Disconnect the four cables:

- 24Vdc Power supply.
- Tobacco Temperature sensor.
- Can Bus.
- Cooling Circuit Temperature sensor.

Mechanical work on defective scanner.

- Before taking out the defective scanner, remove the cover with the cooling
circuit.
- Remove the defective scanner from the machine.
- Transfer the output guide to the new scanner.

Mechanical work on defective scanner.

- Put the scanner back in place.

- Place back the cooling cover.
- Check the alignment of the scanner.

Connect a service PC to the MIDAS-XR and run the MSP-XR
program:
- Click on the “Calibration” then on the “Precalibration” buttons.

At first, click on:
- Measure curve: Use this option if no Resonance Test has been
recently made (more than one week old).
- Open Curve: Use this option if very recent Resonance Test data is
available.

Then, click on:
- Save curve: For saving the new Resonance test results.
- Enter the cigarette characteristics: Target Weight (Tobacco + paper +
glue), Rod Length and Tobacco Moisture.
- Name the brand with two characters (for example R1).
- Then select the type of tobacco: Blend (standard) or Kretek
(Indonesian mix)..

- Click on Calculate Parameters.
- Wait until the end of the calculations. It may take a few minutes.

- When the calculations are finished, a yellow curve appears.
- Click on Save Parameter.
- Then if online with the MIDAS-XR, click on Download Parameter.

- A warning window appears: “Replace existing parameter file?”.
- Click on the “YES” button.
- The download procedure then starts.

- You will then be requested to either activate the new brand or not.
- Click on the NO button. The information window closes.
- If you have other brand to set-up, follow the same procedure.
- Otherwise, close the MSP-XR program and disconnect the service PC
from the MIDAS-XR.

- For generating tables, use the “MIDAS Brands Table” function of the
Win1.
- You may need to wait a few minutes before the list of brands is
updated.

- Select the new brand using the “down / up” arrows.
- Then click on the “Confirmation” button.
- The table generation process will start. Progress is shown on the
lower part of the screen. This takes several minutes.

- When the process is over, you can start again the machine.

- Note that it might be necessary to optimize the scanner.
