Duties and responsibilities as a Safety Officer / Safety Supervisor

 Daily HSE inspections of site.
 Identifying hazards to the workers
 Taking corrective actions for unsafe practice.
 Color code system implementation monthly / quarterly.
 Coordinate Permit to Work program.
 Conduct Incident Reporting and Investigation
 Perform hazard assessments associated with light, noise, and air quality.

Worked as Shift Engineer in utilities department and as HSE and Fire Protection Engineer in
HSE and Fire department of National Refinery Limited Karachi Pakistan
Duties and responsibilities as HSE and Fire Protection Engineer
 Auditing of PTW (Permit to Work System).
 Providing the safety vigilance during critical Hot Work on site and process area
 Risk Assessment of Hot Work, Fire Drill at different location in Refinery, Confined Space
Work Permit.
  Participation in Live Fire Drill and Perform fire suppressions and water and Foam Hose
handling activities.
 Rescue & emergency Equipment’s like SCBA and SCBA using awareness and training
conduction
 Trainings about toxic gases behavior, Hazards, and harms like H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) at
confined space and plant area as well as trained by NEBOSH and HABC certified person.
 Fire water Network monitoring as a team member at Process area (Lube-I, Fuel
Production, Lube-II Refinery & Storage Facility).
 Fire Fighting Sources Management as a team member for 300 Acre area of Refinery i.e.
requirement of Water.

Key responsibilities as a shift engineer

 Plan, coordinate and manage for safe and efficient operation of the unit.
 Handling plant Emergency and supervision of startup / shutdown activities.
 Plan the manpower adjustment
 Making sure the safe plant operation and operators working in safe manners
 Assist Technical Services in conducting Plant test-runs.
 Implementation and follow up of HSE regulations (work to permit system, hazard
identification, incidents notification etc.)
 Plan the plant modification and renovation work
 Maintain the inventory of acid and caustic being used for regeneration at Demineralization
plant
 Making sure the availability of safety gadgets like SCABA, H2S detectors in the sulfur
presence area
 Daily Monitors consumption of chemicals, take measures to minimize chemical losses by
checking and reviewing chemical injections
 Analyze daily production and balance sheet
 Plan standby equipment testing
 Plan preventive maintenance of equipment
 Planning of plant modification and renovation works
 Checking and verifying bills of maintenance works
 Prepare mechanical, electrical and instrument work job lists and coordinate with Service
Departments for execution of plant jobs.
 Issuance of work permits including hot work permit, cold work permit, crane operation
permit, excavation permit, energize and de-energize permit, scaffolding permit and
confined space entry permit
