Roxas opens Candaba hospital

CANDABA -- Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel Roxas
II, together with Mayor Rene Maglanque formally opened Thursday the P32-million Candaba
Municipal Infirmary Hospital, which is now ready to address the healthcare concerns of
thousands of residents here and nearby towns.

Roxas said the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) through his coordination with
PCSO General Manager Ferdinand Roxas donated a brand new ambulance for the hospital.

The secretary said he was amazed with the hospital’s modern equipment, comparable to the
private hospitals in Manila.

Roxas, greeted by thousands of well wishers from this town, said the hospital is a symbol of
hope for the realization of a promise of a better life and a better future.

“Ang hospital na ito ay symbolo din ng pagbabago, simbulo ng pag-asa at ang mahalaga rito ay
kayo ang gumawa nito,” Roxas added.

Maglanque for his part said that the municipal government has spent P12-million for the hospital
building construction, P10-million for the site development, P5-million for the purchase of
modern equipment and another P5-million, which will be used as operational fund until
December this year. "This hospital is the Candabenios' dream come true. “It’s now time for
Candaba to stand up and realize a hospital of its own.”

The hospital rose in a 6.7-hectare land owned by the municipality along Pansol road in Barangay
Pasig, this town.

The community hospital will be classified as a level 1 hospital or emergency hospital that will
primarily handle emergency cases and prevalent diseases in the area.

The medical facility will also have facilities and services for general medicine, pediatrics, minor
surgeries, non-surgical gynecology, primary clinical laboratories, pharmacy, radiology and
nursing care for patients needing minimal supervised care.

The municipal government will hire three doctors, nurses, midwives and other allied medical
personnel.

Aside from Roxas, the inauguration was also witnessed by Pampanga Representatives Juan
Pablo Rimpy Bondoc of the fourth district, Oscar Rodriguez of the third district, and Joseller
“Yeng” Guiao of the firstdistrict; and Mayors Jomar Hizon (Bacolor), Lito Naguit (Santo
Tomas), Venancio Macapagal (San Luis), Dante Torres (Guagua), Edwin Santiago (City of San
Fernando), Emmanuel Alejandrino (Arayat), Rommel Concepcion (Sta. Ana), Leonora Wong
(San Simon) and Dan Guinto (Masantol).

It was also graced by DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan, DILG Pampanga Director Myrvi
Fabia, OIC PNP Regional Director Ronald Santos, PNP Pampanga Director Rodolfo Recomono,
Jr., members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Candaba barangay captains, health workers and
