1. Vision, Mission and Programme Educational Objectives (60)

1.1 State the Vision and Mission of the Department and Institute (5)
Vision of the Institute
To impart quality technical education with a focus on research and innovation
emphasising on development of sustainable and inclusive technology for the benefit of society.
Mission of the Institute
1. To provide an environment that enhances creativity and innovation in pursuit of excellence.
2. To nurture teamwork in order to transform individuals as responsible leaders and
entrepreneurs.
3. To train the students to the changing technical scenario and make them to understand the
importance of sustainable and inclusive technologies.
Vision of the Department
To equip aeronautical engineers with sustainable engineering education, technical
competency, social responsibility, innovative and research skills to contribute for the national
and global development.

Mission of the Department


1. To provide quality teaching, learning and research environment for a successful career in
aeronautical engineering and interdisciplinary field.
2. To engage the students in research and development which helps them to pursue higher
education.
3. To mould the students with ethical, social and intellectual qualities to become successful
aeronautical engineers.

1.2 Program Educational Objectives (5)


The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the department of aeronautical engineering are
given below.

PEO-1: Graduates of the program shall be successful professionals as aeronautical engineers,


team leaders in national defence sectors and allied industries.
PEO-2: Graduates of the program shall pursue higher education and would work on continuous
professional improvement in the field of aeronautical domain that meet the needs of society.
PEO-3: Graduates of the program shall be continuous learners, socially responsible and ethical
to have concern towards the demanding environmental issues.
PEO-4: Graduates of the program shall have innovative ideas and potential to become
successful entrepreneurs.

➢ Department Advisory board meetings

Department Advisory board meetings are conducted every year during which the Vision,
Mission and PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department are discussed.

➢ HOD meeting with Faculty (Teaching and Non-teaching)

HOD conducts meetings with faculty members in which the Vision, Mission and PEOs
of the Aeronautical Engineering Department are conveyed.

➢ Orientation programs for the students

Orientation program in the beginning of every year in which the Vision, Mission and
PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department is disseminated, creating awareness
among students.

➢ Proctor–Student/Parent meetings

Proctor-Student/Parent meeting is conducted during which the proctors discuss the


Vision, Mission and PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department thoroughly with
the students/Parents.

➢ Faculty-Students/Parents interaction meetings

Faculty-Students/Parents interaction meetings are conducted in a semester during


which the faculty members interact with students and parents regarding Vision, Mission
and PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department.

➢ Alumni meetings

Alumni meetings are conducted once a year. The alumni opinion about the
functioning of the department is taken and the Vision, Mission and PEOs of the
Aeronautical Engineering Department are explained.

➢ Email Communication by HOD

Vision, Mission and PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department are mentioned in
the HOD’s Email signature.

➢ Newsletter: Jet-Ayu
Newsletter is published which highlights the departmental activities. The Newsletter
also contains the Vision, Mission and PEOs of the Aeronautical Engineering Department.

1.4. State the process for defining the Vision and Mission of the Department, and PEOs
of the program.
For Vision and Mission:
In establishing the vision and mission of the department, the following steps were
followed:
Step 1: Vision and Mission of the institution are taken as basic reference.
Step 2: Staff meeting is conducted in the department for formulation of vision & Mission.
Step 3: The tentative vision and mission of the department are formulated.
Step 4: The suggestions are taken from the stakeholders.
Step 5: The vision and mission are analysed and reviewed to check the consistency with the
vision and mission of the institute and are updated.
Step 6: Modified version of Vision & Mission are formulated by Department Academic
Committee (DAC).
Step 7: Finally the management core committee (MCC) of the institute approves the vision and
mission of the department.

The above steps are illustrated in Fig. 1.1

The Vision, Mission and PEOs are established through a consultation process involving all the
stakeholders are as shown in fig.1.2

The PEOs are established through the following process steps:

Step 1: Vision and Mission of the Department are taken as a basis to interact with
various stake holders.
Step 2: Program Coordinator consults all the Stakeholders and collects their views and submits
them to Department Academic Committee (DAC).
Step 3: Department Academic Committee summarizes the collected views and expresses its
opinion, forwards the same to Department Advisory Committee.
Step 4: Department Advisory Committee reviews and finalises the PEOs.
