centres in more than 40 countries worldwide. Daewoo Electronics Sales UK (DESUK) was established in
November 1993.

With a comprehensive range of domestic appliances including refrigeration, laundry, microwaves and

meet needs of the internal and external customers by securing the most competitive network of supply.

DB, An Excellent Global Company


The Dongbu Group began on January 24, 1969 as Miryung Construction (currently as Dongbu Corporation) was
founded on a start-up budget of 25million KRW with two employees only.

The company, in the earlier 1970s, had become the leading Korean company to make a stride into a
construction market in the Middle East only to achieve a remarkable success, and with the success, the company
had, in the 1980s, pushed forward its business projects in strategic and planning manners, laying the
framework for what the Dongbu Group takes shape today.

With the full profits earned from it business projects in foreign markets, Dongbu invested it in the national
infrastructure industries including steel, fertilizer, construction, logistics, and finance. The company made its
own drama showing a gradual growth starting from having most subsidies with newly acquired license or the
establishment of a new subsidy to a bottom-up expansion of its business item category. In addition, it took over
an insolvent business to transform into a blue-chip company with large-scale investment and through business
rationalization.

Dongbu entered into the top 20 ranks in 1990, and then made its standing on the top 10 conglomerates in 2000.

Environmental Management
Win-win cooperation through environmental education
Daewoo Electronics has made an education on environment management compulsory by the company’s
regulation in order to enhance environmental awareness and secure sustainable capability by partners and
employees of the company, and implementing the environmental education at once and more a year.

Partner training
 Objective: Strengthen capability to respond to environmental regulation
 Details: Recent trends on the environmental regulation and Harmful Materials Management System
(Eco NET) by the company
 Target : Employees of management level in charge of responding to environment at partners

Auditor Training
 Objective : Support and evaluation for supplier’s EMS establishment

 Target : Departments of QC and Purchase

Validation of Hazardous substances, and training education for authorizer


 Objective : Validation of compliance with the environmental regulation on raw materials and
components and approval
 Details : Education on harmful chemical materials such as RoHS and REACH

Practicing coexistence with partners
As there have been an increasing number of partners suffering from expansion of the environmental
regulation, higher energy cost as well as demands to respond to climate change, Daewoo Electronics is
promoting coexistence activities with partners by nurturing experts who can support the partners on the
company level through exchanges of technology assistance, knowledge and know-hows.

As a part of coexistence activities, Daewoo Electronics is promoting a ‘Energy Save On’ program that is to
establish an energy saving system with partners in 2013. The ‘Energy Save On’ program helps nurture energy
experts in the company as mentors, and support improvements of energy system and energy efficiency in the
processes through cooperation with external specialized consulting organizations. By spreading accumulated
best practices to partners, it is trying to expand the energy saving system.

Practicing social responsibility


The employees of Daewoo Electronics have continued their efforts to include the society by practicing
required social responsibility. Together with supporting youths and schools at disadvantaged regions with
provision of giveaways and scholarship as well as through sports sponsorship, and the community clean-up
activity, they are voluntarily engaging in free A/S support to share pains in the flood-affected areas.
