SikaBond® Construction Adhesive


One part advanced polyurethane, elastomeric adhesive

Description SikaBond Construction Adhesive is a one-component, gun-grade, adhesive and sealing compound
of permanent elasticity. This dual-purpose material is based on a special moisture-cured polyure-
thane with an accelerated curing time.
Where to Use As an elastic adhesive for:
n Paver caps, masonry veneer and Faux stone.
Construction

n Cover plates, gaskets and coverings.


n Acoustic ceiling tiles.
n Floor moldings and door sills.
n Light weight construction materials.
n Wood, metal, or plastic window and door frames.
n Roof tiles.

As an elastic joint sealer for:


n Air ducts and high vacuum systems.
n Containers, tanks, and silos.
n Gaskets in openings in walls or floors for ducts, piling, etc.
n Reservoirs or water retaining structures.
n Aluminum fabrication.
n Bolted lap joints.

Advantages n Excellent adhesion on all cement-based materials, brick, ceramics, glass, metals, wood,
epoxy, polyester, acrylic resin, and plastics.
n Fast cure rate.
n Waterproof and water immersible after cure.
n Good weathering resistance.
n Non-corrosive.
n Can be painted over with water, oil, and rubber-based paints. (Preliminary tests recommended).
n High durability.
Coverage 10.1 fl. oz. cartridge seals 12.2 lineal ft. of 1/2 x 1/4 in. joint.
Packaging 10.1 fl. oz. cartridge seals 12.2 lineal ft (3.72 lin m) of 1/2 x 1/4 in. joint (1.27 x 0.64 cm); 29 oz.

RESULTS MAY DIFFER BASED UPON STATISTICAL VARIATIONS DEPENDING UPON MIXING METHODS AND EQUIPMENT,
TEMPERATURE, APPLICATION METHODS, TEST METHODS, ACTUAL SITE CONDITIONS AND CURING CONDITIONS.

Weathering Resistance Excellent
Chemical Resistance Good resistance to water, weak acids, weak alkalis, sewer-
age, mineral oils, vegetable oils, fats, and fuels. (Not
resistant to organic solvents, paint thinner, strong acids,

How to Use
Surface Prep Most substrates only require priming if testing indicates a need or where sealant will be subjected to
water immersion after cure. Consult Technical Service at 800-933-7452 for additional information on
priming. Clean all surfaces. Joint walls must be sound, clean, dry, frost-free, and free of oil and grease.
Curing compound residues and any other foreign matter must be thoroughly removed.
Priming Priming is not usually necessary for anodized aluminum, steel, non-absorbent materials such as glass,
ceramics, stoneware and tiles. Most substrates only require priming if testing indicates a need or where
sealant will be subjected to water immersion after cure. Consult Technical Service for additional
nformation on priming.
Application Cut plastic tip to desired size and puncture airtight seal at base of tip. Force adhesive onto bonding
surface. Use as spread, bead or for spot bonding. Recommended application temperatures: 40°-100°F.
Over Painting Wait a minimum of 1 week and test for compatibility before painting.
Cure Mechanism Tack free in 1-2 hours, depending on climate. Final cure in 5-8 days.
Limitations n Allow a minimum of 1 week cure at standard conditions when using SikaBond Construction
Adhesive in total water immersion situations and prior to painting.
n Avoid exposure to high levels of chlorine. (Maximum level is 5 ppm).
Construction

n Avoid contact with alcohol and other solvent cleaners during cure.
n Not for expansion joints.
n Heavier substrates may require additional support during the cure period.
n Do not use on tar, bituminous or asphaltic-based surfaces.

SIKA warrants this product for one year from date of installation to be free from manufacturing defects and to meet the technical properties on
the current Product Data Sheet if used as directed within shelf life. User determines suitability of product for intended use and assumes all risks.
Buyer’s sole remedy shall be limited to the purchase price or replacement of product exclusive of labor or cost of labor. NO OTHER WARRANTIES
