WALTZ ( GERMANY )
 Waltz from the old german word “walzen” to roll,
turn, or to glide.

 Waltz is a strong accent on the first beat and a basic

pattern of step-step-close, waltz is also to move or
glide in lively or conspicuous manner( to advance
easily and successfully ).

 Waltz originally danced as one of the figures in the

contredance, with arms intertwining at shoulder
level.

CHA-CHA (CUBAN )
 Cha cha is alively dance with african influences that
developed in cuban after world war II.
 Cha cha dance is renowned as a fun, flirtatious,
lively and energetic dance and it is a preference for
both professional and non professional
dancers.Cha-cha.
 This dance is a fun and cheeky dance with emphasize of quick, concis foot and
leeg action.

RUMBA ( UNITED STATE )

• The tern rumba may refer in variety of unrelated
music style. Originally “rumba” was used as
asynonym for “party” in northern cuba.
• This dance has a sensual feeling with lot of hip and
body action.
TANGO ( ARGENTINA, URUGUAY )
• The tango is a result of combination of waltz, polka,
and mazurka with the spanish cuban habanera.
• This dance has a lots of quick, dramatic movements
and shapes and mostly danced with the bent knees
the entire time. The dancer walk with a staccato
technique.

SAMBA ( AFRICA )
• Samba is a bazilian musical genre and dance style,
with its roots in africa via the west african slave trade
and african religious tradition.
• This parter dance with mimics the brazilian “carnival“
feeling and there is a lot of “bounce” action created
through knees and ankles.

MAMBO (MEXICO )
• Mambo is a latin dance of cuba. “mambo” meaning
conversation with the gods in the kongo language.
• Mambo describe as a “feeling of music” in which
sound and movement were merged through the
body.

JIVE ( UNITED STATE FROM AFRICANS AND

AMERICANS )
• Jive is the quickest dance in this style and has a lot
of kicks. The ideas is to show lots of enegy and
personality in this dance.
FOXTROT ( CALIFORNIA )
• The foxtrot has a smooth gliding feeling across the
floor with lots of passing of the feet.
• Tihs dance style that shows basic walking and side
steps with combination of slow and quick steps in
one and to music beats, respectively.
