CHAPTER IV

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter summarizes the findings of the research, the conclusions drawn and

the recommendations forwarded by the research.

Summary

Global warming is understood as a result from an overall, long term increase in

the retention of the sun’s heat around earth due to the presence of greenhouse gases

especially CO2 and methane. An emission of CO2 has been rising at a speed

unprecedented in human history, due to accelerating fossil fuel burning that began in the

Industrial revolution.

Many people are still confused with the term climate and weather. Those two are

not the same thing. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere over a short period of

time while climate is how the atmosphere behaves over relatively long periods of time. In

short, climate is the description of the long term pattern of weather. Moreover, climate

change and global warming are closely related to one another and in fact global warming

is just one aspect of climate change.

Global warming is the result of the activities done by the human beings and there are the

following: burning fossil fuels, deforestation, farming, when you drive or fly, when you

eat meat and exotic foods, when using electricity, and moving into a new development.

As a result of these activities they will now produces greenhouse gasses: carbon dioxide,

methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and water vapor in which this is the only

gas that does not have any connection to human activities.

Meanwhile the result of the activities if human becomes the effects of global

warming that are actually happening in some places and have been experiencing by

people around the world. These effects are: Rising seas and increased coastal flooding,

longer and more damaging wildfire seasons, more destructive hurricanes, more frequent

and intense heat waves, costly and growing health impacts, an increase in extreme

weather events, heavier precipitation and flooding, more severe droughts in some areas,

growing risks to our electricity supply, melting ice, disruptions to food supplies,

destruction of coral reefs, plant and animal range shifts, impacting ecosystems and

people, higher death rates, and dirtier air.

Lastly, is even though global warming is destroying our planet we can still

prevent it from happening and the only way is to reduce. These are the ways to reduce

global warming from happening: save power by unplugging appliances that are not in

use, using natural lighting whenever possible and close all lights that are not in use,

whenever possible you walk, saving paper by printing only when necessary, separate

your waste, using your own personal cups and tumblers instead of plastic cups, whenever

possible you use surface water instead of deep wells, always turn off the faucet when not

in use, always check your faucets for leaks or drips, at least once in your life you plant a
tree, replace regular incandescent light bulb, drive less or carpool, 3r’s (reduce, reuse, and

recycle), go solar, buy energy-efficient appliances, reduce waste and use less hot water.

Conclusion

Based from the findings of the research the following conclusions were drawn.

The conclusions are numbered according to the problems raised in this research.

1. Global warming is understood as a result from an overall, long term increase in

the retention of the sun’s heat around earth due to the presence of greenhouse gases

especially CO2 and methane.

2. Global warming is caused by human activities and there are: burning fossil

fuels, deforestation, farming, when you drive or fly, when you eat meat and exotic foods,

when using electricity, and moving into a new development.

3. The effects of global warming are: rising seas and increased coastal flooding,

longer and more damaging wildfire seasons, more destructive hurricanes, more frequent

and intense heat waves, costly and growing health impacts, an increase in extreme

weather events, heavier precipitation and flooding, more severe droughts in some areas,

growing risks to our electricity supply, melting ice, disruptions to food supplies,

destruction of coral reefs, plant and animal range shifts, impacting ecosystems and

people, higher death rates, and dirtier air.

4. The ways to reduce global warming are the following: save power by

unplugging appliances that are not in use, using natural lighting whenever possible and
close all lights that are not in use, whenever possible you walk, saving paper by printing

only when necessary, separate your waste, using your own personal cups and tumblers

instead of plastic cups, whenever possible you use surface water instead of deep wells,

always turn off the faucet when not in use, always check your faucets for leaks or drips,

at least once in your life you plant a tree, replace regular incandescent light bulb, drive

less or carpool, 3r’s (reduce, reuse, and recycle), go solar, buy energy-efficient

appliances, reduce waste and use less hot water.

Recommendations

Based on the conclusion drawn, the following recommendations are forwarded:

1. Avoid the human activities that are stated above to prevent global warming

from becoming more dangerous to us.

2. For every citizen of the world to think first of their actions before doing

something that can and will put our world in danger and can trigger global warming to

shower us another sets of bad effects to our world.

3. For all the Governments in this world to make an action in building awareness

about global warming and to persuade everybody to change the way we are living and

live our lives without having a contribution in the global warming-making.

4. For all the researchers to conduct another research concerning global warming

in order to see whether or not there have been changes and actions that have done and to

see if global warming is still a danger to our world.
