granted by a royal land grant. In this time there is no agreement on the sharing

AMERICAN PERIOD

PHILIPPINE REPUBLIC

o Change the sharing to 70-30 and more regulation to contracts

o More effective safeguard against arbitrary ejectment of tenants.

o Bin this law there are 2 concepts one is share-tenancy or leasehold (tenant selection)
o Share Tenancy
o Leasehold covered by RA 3844 is more concerned on relationship of the tenant and
landowner.
o It was not abolished and only leasehold is the remaining option.
- Dioasdado Macapagal- Father of agrarian reform, by reason that he abolished tenancy and
institutionalized leasehold.
- Ferdinand Marcos
o PD 27 Restricted land reform scope to tenanted rice and corn lands and set the
retention limit at 7 hectares. (Applicable as to present)
o Lesees on agricultural land may exist because that particular farmer did not choose to
be given the land. (Check sec 6 of PD 27)
