The Boosterthon team will come by and hang the bag of prizes on your door.
Please put these prizes into the appropriate student's backpack towards the end of the day.
Please do not announce or bring attention to which student receives prizes.
This should be handled discreetly to not draw attention to those who did not receive a prize.
We are working on a way to streamline this process. Please be on the look out for further information
regarding this matter. Receipts will be required for reimbursement.
The items you purchase with your funds are part of DBES property that stays with the
classroom in the event you leave teaching
PTO Processes &
Communication
System Changes
We hope this will make it easier to distinguish between what is a PTO event & what is a school
event, plus make it easier for parents to find the forms. We are trying to be paper free and do as
much as we can using google form for RSVP and sign up genius with pay capabilities
This is a new form created to streamline communication between teachers, staff and
administration. We ask that any need you have from the PTO please fill it out on this form and
give to us. This will ensure we know who requested what and specifically what the need is and
which PTO member received the request. This allows for all our PTO members to know what is
needed vs just one person having knowledge. We have two board members who will be the point
of contact for these forms: Rachel Mann and Derick Wilder
In the past PTO has provided teachers with a red and yellow folder.
* The red folder is for MONEY only. Any money that a student sends in for PTO is to be put in this
red folder, sent down with attendance, and placed in the slot of the locked mailbox located on the
wall in Security Officer's Office.
* The office gold communication folder is for ALL non-monetary communication to the office and
to PTO. There will be NO yellow folders this year. Mrs England will sort through, and remove PTO
specific items to be given to us. Please try to make sure your teacher name is on all papers that
come back to the office and that student's names are clear as well, first and last.
* Box tops will not be placed in any folder (the new process for box tops is on next page).
Eliminating the yellow folder is a new process we are testing and may change but we will update
you if it does. For now, red folder = PTO money. Any other PTO forms will go into the gold
folders. Mrs England and the PTO hope that having one folder for communication will help
streamline your morning routine. Please let her know if this isn't working for you. We love
feedback and so does she!
PTO Processes &
Communication
how we reach people
We have two board members dedicated to creating & publishing the latest information on all PTO
events so if a parent ask you details about an event, you can direct them there with confidence.
The parent will be able to get the information, download forms or find a sign up genius. We will still
have to send some forms home for those who don't have internet access and that communication
will always be on pink paper.
- Teacher Liaison -
This teacher helps facilitate communication between PTO and teachers. She also may attend any
board meeting. If you receive an email from her regarding PTO please read it so you are up to date
on the latest. We try not to abuse this process so when we send something it is usually because it is an
important update you need to know about or we are trying to get your opinion on something.
Mrs Corley-Moore has graciously accepted to be teacher liaison again this year.
- Surveys / Polls -
Throughout the year we may send a poll or survey to get a better idea of how we can assist you,
find out your needs, etc. Please take a moment to cast your vote so we can better serve you as a PTO.
We want your ideas & suggestions !
- Room Parent -
An important way we communicate details of our PTO events is through your room parents. We
have a Facebook page for room parents where they can share information with each other & ask
questions. We ask that teachers supply us with their room parent's name & email so we can
add them to our Facebook page & email list. It is also helpful if you will share your class list with
your room parent so they can communicate to parents about PTO events & answer questions.
We have spoken with Mrs Kubbs and she has agreed that it is OK for teachers to share the class list
with room parents (you can exclude the parents who have opted out).
Box Tops
Systems
- New Process -
In the past we have had teachers put any box tops that students brought from home into the
yellow folders . . . this school year that changes !
Our new process is to provide each teacher with their own plastic bag labeled with the
name to keep in their room at all times. Any time a student brings in box tops they can be
placed in the bag. Tracey Nikolich is our box top coordinator and she will come by
the first Friday of the month to pick up the box tops bag. We will send an email reminder
out the day through the teacher liaison to remind you for pick up and we may
even have a door hanger that finds it's way to your door the day before as well to
help you remember to put the bag out for pick up on Friday morning.
Box tops do not have to be taped onto any specific top paper.
Parents can put in a Ziplock with student's and teacher's name on them.
