Memo: Development Coach workshop and course updates

Please note the following updates regarding the NCCP Development Coach workshop:

The Level 1 workshop has expired and may no longer be delivered as of May 23, 2018. All corresponding
materials such the Learning Facilitator Guide, Coach Workbook and Evaluation Package dated August 2011 (or
earlier) may no longer be used. The revised version of all Development Coach course materials will be dated May
24, 2018 or later.

For the purpose of clarity, VC will refer to the Level 1 workshop as the expired version (2011), and the
Development Coach workshop as the revised version (2018).

Coaches who completed the Level 1 workshop before May 1, 2018 now have a sunset period to complete the
Level 1 Evaluation, using the 2011 Evaluation package. The sunset date to complete this evaluation is April 30,
2019. After this date, coaches will be required to use the Development Coach Evaluation Package (2018), which
contains criteria that was not addressed or trained as part of the Level 1 workshop. Volleyball Canada will post
this information on the VC coaching Centre and the volleyball.ca websites. In addition, VC will send an email to all
coaches registered in the VC Coaching Centre regarding this update. Please also communicate this information
to your members.

Revisions to the Development and Advanced Development Coach pathways will be made. The timeline for official
launch of these changes will take place on September 1, 2018. The exception to this is the LTAD eLearning
module and Volleyball Foundations e-learning module, which will be phased in when they are complete. See table
below.

extend the reach of remote delivery (online) offerings to better reach all jurisdictions.
***CAC will complete revisions to the current Nutrition module by April 2019. It will be an eLearning module
Note: Coaches may continue to challenge the evaluations (4 above) without taking ANY training

Advanced Development Coach Pathway

Coaches must be CERTIFIED Development Coach before they can be certified in ADVANCED DEVELOPMENT.
Coaches may begin the ADV DEV pathway at any time but cannot be evaluated in ADV DEV before DEV.
Coaches may be evaluated in the DEV and ADV DEV context simultaneously.
