THE CAUSES AND THE EFFECTS OF TSUNAMI

Tsunami comes from words “tsu” which means harbor and “nami” which
means wave Indonesia is an archipelago country that located between Indian Ocean
and Pacific Ocean which make Indonesia has a big possibility to be attacked by
Tsunami. There are a lot of victims as the result of tsunami that will make us think
further about the causes of tsunami and what kind of effect that it has. Tsunami is a
kind of natural disaster that why we can’t prevent it at all but, we can minimize the
effect of tsunami. If we know how to minimize the effect, the numbers victims can
decrease.

The causes of tsunami are because there is movement of earth plate in the
deep ocean or we usually called submarine earthquake that will make the water
produces a big wave that will hit the ground called tsunami. Tsunami is also caused
by a volcanic eruption and explosion. Submarine explosions can cause sufficient
displacement of water to generate a tsunami. We can’t prevent tsunami because this
is a natural disaster that always happen, what we can do is to make it decrease the
effect. The biggest effect of tsunami is in the environment. Tsunami always destroy a
lot of trees, buildings, and the other facilities that mean the tsunami make a lot of
people and animals lost their place and home. Not just the environment, tsunami
also makes a lot of people and animals lost their life and their habitat. A lot of sea
creatures died and driven ashore to the land, people died and lost their home.
Because of that reason, we are looking for some ways to minimize the effects of the
tsunami. The first, we can plant mangroves, the roots, the branches and the leaves
of the mangroves, can reduce the power of tsunami. The mangrove’s roots are very
strong so it quite strong to block the tsunami. The second, we can build a big sea
wall to block the tsunami so we can protect the entire country from tsunami and
reduce the effects of the tsunami, the country that have that kind of sea wall is Japan.
And now the world is trying to find some equipment that can detect the tsunami,
there’s some equipment to detect the tsunami. If the sea water decreases a lot we
must be careful, because there will be a possibility that tsunami will attack that place,
if that happen it’s better for you to looking for some high and big building, don’t come
near the beach to take fish that driven ashore in the beach. If we can do all of that
actions, we can reduce the numbers of dead people and reduce the numbers of
damaging facilities.
From that essay we can know that at this century a lot of people need to know
what the causes of tsunami and what the effect of tsunami so, we can know how to
prevent it. And now a lot of people are trying to do all of the ways to prevent the
tsunami. If we do this, especially for planting mangrove trees, the effects of tsunami
will be decreases a lot.
