Activity Reflection: Comment only on those learning outcomes listed below that are
relevant to this activity.
You may want to comment on:
What you wanted to achieve by doing this activity and what you did actually
achieve.
What you struggled with or found frustrating and how you managed that.
What you have learnt about working with others. What you learnt about yourself?
How this activity will inform your future CAS activities.
LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the
process
A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one.
The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the
student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established
area.
I have always wanted to do foster caring for animals especially after my year 10 work experience
at a vet clinic. I have planned to support the RSPCA and have emailed to become a foster carer. I
attended the seminar to become a registered foster carer. I regularly stayed in contact with Tim
who is the co-ordinator. However, no dogs were suitable for me. So I planned to foster care also
with Rockys K9 rescue, a smaller organisation co-ordinated by Merna. I also regularly contacted
her about foster caring, before giving me Marley she gave me instructions and an induction
course for foster caring. Although it didn’t work out with RSPCA I managed to plan a new CAS
experience to achieve the same outcome.

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and
challenges of collaboration gained through CAS experiences.
Animal cruelty is an issue of global significance and it is something that should not be tolerated.
This experience has taught me a lot about the importance of these organisations in helping
innocent animals who do not deserve to suffer and be treated the way they are. From this
experience I hope to contribute and volunteer more at RSPCA and hopefully foster more animals
who need help or are on death row.
When foster caring animals there are several consequences of choices and actions. I had to be
careful when taking care of Marley especially as he was very sensitive and very malnourished.
When rehabilitating him there was times of frustration, however, this experience has taught me
to recognise and consider what has happened to him in the past and this has shaped my choices.
