Biology is an in-depth study of life from the molecular to the ecological level. Students will learn the basic
principles of a wide range of concepts from the cellular to the biome level. With proper effort, students will become
knowledgeable of the concepts needed for both the general understanding required of an active citizen or further
advanced study. The educational teachings of this course are carefully modeled after what is presented in the North
Carolina Essential Standards.

Required Supplies Recommended Supplies

college-ruled 5 subject notebook colored pencils
3 glue sticks felt-tip markers
blue or red pen extra glue sticks
#2 pencils index cards
***I will give extra credit points to any student who donates to our fellow students and communal classroom supplies
by bringing in pencils, glue sticks, 5 subject notebooks, tissues, or hand sanitizer.***

Every student is expected to arrive to class each day with all necessary materials. This is especially important
for their 5-subject notebook which each student will use to create their own “Take Home Textbook.” All
classroom notes, activities, and homework will be glued into and graded from these notebooks every day. For
this reason, I recommend a high quality brand such as 5 star so that the notebook stays in good condition for
the entire semester. Students will need to have notebooks no later than Tuesday, September 4th. If this
presents a problem, then please contact me by phone, e-mail, or through your student as soon as possible so I
can provide alternative arrangements.
