A Springtime Surprise to

MAKE THEIR DAY

Add a splash of sweet Easter style to your tabletop with this cute and
clever arrangement — it’s guaranteed to win smiles!

WHAT’S NEW
This Easter, top florists are thinking
outside the vase by composing
bright “standing” bouquets that
are sure to charm guests of all ages!
“Here, pink primroses are popped
into a colored egg and nestled on a
bed of blueberry twigs,” says floral
pro Alicia Schwede. “This clever
arrangement is the epitome of
spring: It mimics the look of grass
bursting with colorful blooms. Plus,
it’s surprisingly easy to make!”

GET THE LOOK

Fill a mini soda can with water (to
weigh down the arrangement), then
snip a handful of blueberry twigs or
other coarse greenery to the can’s
height, plus 1 inch. Wrap greenery
around can; secure with a rubber
band and ribbon. Use a spoon to
crack the top quarter of an egg,
empty out yolk and rinse shell. Paint
the egg; let dry. Fill shell with water;
pop in seven 4-inch primroses.
Nestle the shell onto the greenery.

FLORIST’S SECRET
The primroses will fade long
before the greenery in this
arrangement. But you can
showcase this pretty display for
weeks by swapping the wilted
primroses with a handful of freshly
cut seasonal flowers. And to keep
the grassy base looking glossy
FRIEDRICH STRAUSS

and fresh, Schwede recommends

adding a few drops of vegetable or
olive oil to a washcloth and gently
wiping down the greenery.

“And I wasn’t doing comedy.”
Ellen, 60, admits the relationship had
been struggling. “We had fought a lot,” she

car accident while on the way home. Ellen
drove by the crash site, unaware that it was
her girlfriend in the mangled car. “I found
out the next morning,” she says. “That, of
course, made me feel like I should have
stopped. A lot of guilt.”
The loss forced Ellen to rethink her life.
“It made me realize how easily you can lose
