History of the Letter to the Ephesians
Sit, Walk, Stand
• History of the Book of Ephesians
– Written by the apostle Paul, around 60-62 AD while
in prison, this letter was meant to be circulated
among the churches within the city of Ephesus
– The city of Ephesus was a major business and
religious hub, making the practice of magic and idol
worship central and therefore linked to all businesses
that took place in the city.

Purpose of the Book of Ephesians
Sit, Walk, Stand
• Purpose of the Book of Ephesians
– Due to the language and content of the letter, it is
believed that the Ephesian letter was written as a
document to explain the development and practical
application of a believer's faith in Christ and not
address a specific problem within the churches
– The Ephesian letter was therefore meant to be
circulated among the various churches within the city
of Ephesus
