Though it may be very rare, the fuser unit or the main machine may be damaged depending on the condition of
fixing of the main heater and sub heater when removing and reseating the fuser main heater and sub heater at
maintenance. Therefore, please be informed of the checkup and the preventive action.
[Check points]
1. Preventive action
Following 1) to 3) are applied to the fuser unit.
1) Regulating replacement of the individual parts
Among the component parts for the fuser unit, replacement of the parts (A to N) that accompanies removal
of the main heater or sub heater is not allowed. Please replace the fuser unit or the heat roller unit (No.1 to
9) according to the necessity.
2) Individual parts not supplied
Following parts (A to I) are no more supplied as individual parts.
Supply of parts (J to N) are continued among the parts (A to N) that are referred to as parts not to replace
individually since they are use for other models.
3) Change for the parts not supplied
The heat roller unit (No.1 to 9) is registered as service parts that is an assembly of the parts not allowed of
individual replacement including the main heater and sub heater.
2. Checkup
Please check the following when visiting for maintenance, etc.
1) Movement of the rear side terminal of the fuser heater.
2) Looseness of the fuser heater screw.
Please refer to page 3 and 4 for content of the checkup.
Especially, for the machines that ever had replacement of the heat roller, main heater or sub heater, please
prioritize their checkup.

[Checkup]
Please check the following 1) and 2). Incase either of them is not compliant, please replace the fuser
unit.

(Note before starting the checkup)

Perform test copy to confirm no image failure, etc.
Please take good care of the fuser unit just after the operation that is of hot surface.

<Checkup 1) Movement of the rear side terminal of the fuser heater>

Insert a flat-blade screw driver to the fuser heater terminals (2 points at the heat roller gear side) and move it
vertically. Check if the terminals are moved by the gap with the fuser housing. In case the terminals are fixed and
are not movable, it is judged as fault and the fuser unit shall be replaced.

[Check]
The heater terminal at the gear side
(marked by the red arrow in the photo
right) moves vertically. (movable range
0.1 to 0.3mm) Otherwise, it is judged as
fault.

Screw Heater terminal

The fuser heater terminal at the gear side
and the fuser housing are not tightly fixed Conductive plate
since the thermal expansion from the fuser
heat is in consideration and the gap is Washer
configured. The movable terminals means
the gap is secured. Nut

<Checkup 2) Looseness of the fuser heater screw>

When pushing the screws at the fuser heater terminals with a flat-blade screw driver back and forth, check the
screw part is not moved. Check all the heater terminal of 4 points.

[Check]
All the screws at the heater terminals of
4 points do not move from the terminal
plate. If the screw or nut is easily moved,
it is judged fault with insufficient force to
fasten.
*Do not rotate the screw head
*Do not touch the heater bulb

[Reference]
There are oval holes on the heater terminal and
conductive plate. When the screw is pushed back
and forth, it may be moved if fastening is loose.
