In a society governed by apparent chaos, Economics is the only discipline capable of establishing order.

Apart
from few limitations and assumptions, such as the Ceteris Paribus, in this subject theory and application to
the human's society are closely related. In reading "What money can't buy: the moral limits of the markets",
I realized how this field relates to seemingly disconnected ones, such as Psychology and Ethics, describing
thus a complete outline of the world that surrounds us.

Besides my passions in areas such as monetary policies, I believe the academic path I undertook gave me the
skills needed to approach Economics in depth. I studied for three years in a Liceo Scientifico, where I gained
a solid mathematical basis to study Economics. Given my scientific and linguistic skills, I was selected among
my class year to take part in an Erasmus program in Romania, focused on Mathematics. There, I enhanced
my teamwork ability and open-mindedness. Furthermore, I ranked 6th in an international Mathematics
competition among Erasmus students. Moreover, studying IB Economics and Mathematics HL is giving me
the tools to approach Economics in the most rigorous way possible. Calculus, for instance, is fundamental
when dealing with non-linear curves. In addition, my investigations in Biology and ESS allowed me to broaden
my ability to analyse objectively a situation, and reflect on its possible consequences: these are crucial skills
when it comes to predicting whether an excise tax or an educational program would be the best solutions to
intern a spillover.

Beyond my IB curriculum, I extend my knowledge through independent readings. In order to keep up with
current economic happenings, I often consult The Economist. Moreover, I am reading Naked Economics:
Undressing the Dismal Science, in order to deepen those topics that caught my attention in Economics
classes, such as incentive policies and financial markets. As I wanted to develop my debate abilities, I took
part in two MUN - being awarded an Honourable Mention. I am also attending the online course Becoming
an Entrepreneur, offered by MIT, which is honing my leadership. In addition, I lead an Entrepreneurship club
as part of the CAS. This aims to design a start-up, from the brainstorming sessions to the development of a
business plan - learning how to create an innovative and reliable product. In July, I also raised 3000 euros for
a charity market, learning much from the entrepreneurs I worked with, who thought me how to lead a
company.

Besides academia, I am engaged in some extra-curricular activities. I volunteered in a summer camp for 4
years, first as an assistant, then as a referee and finally as an organizer. Given my commitment, I took on
increasingly more central roles, lastly covering one of the main tasks: managing the financial resources -
apprehending the variable costs, and consequently predicting expenditures and revenues, are vital for a
firm's survival. I have also been elected class representative in my previous school, for my ability to relate to
students and school staff, therefore enhancing my leadership abilities. Throughout the last two years, I have
taught Italian to a girl with learning difficulties, improving my resilience, since I have faced many obstacles.
Beyond this, at UWC Adriatic I actively work to improve the relationship between my school and the local
community: through the project called "Adottami" ("Adopt me"), I help to connect UWC students and host
families. The students get to know the local culture and bring an intercultural dimension to the families. I am
working on my problem-solving skills since I have to cope with issues related to students and families'
incompatibility.

In conclusion, I consider myself a hard worker who takes advantage of the opportunities offered to him, in
order to gain as much as possible. I am certain that an undergraduate degree in Economics will be a solid
foundation for a successful career in my future.
