Briefly describe the assignment. What steps did you take in order to complete this assignment?

What resources, software, skills were required to complete this assignment?

The main purpose of, “Transcendentalism in Pop Culture,” was to write a seven paragraph essay

on the aged concept of transcendentalism and how it could be applied in modern times. Keeping

that noted, we were suppose to use our knowledge of transcendentalism, that we learned in class,

and find real examples of it through pop culture. This could be through music, movies, art, video

games, etc. So, the basic set of steps of creating this essay is to know the basic notions of

transcendentalism, research modern examples of it, and to apply that in essay format,

1. Why did you choose this sample as your best piece?

➢ I chose, “Transcendentalism in Pop Culture,” to use as my sample of my best piece of

writing for the fact that I truly enjoyed the examples (Moana) I gave and the idea that it

was my longest piece (seven paragraphs and eight pages).

2. What should the reader expect to find?

➢ As the reader, you should expect to find a concise essay on what transcendentalism is and

modern examples of it.

3. What impressions do you hope the reader gains about you as a learner after viewing this

piece?

➢ Some impressions that I would hope to give the reader would be that I am able to write

strong and powerful essays and that I am able to understand a concept and translate that

into writing.

4. What did you learn as a result of completing this assignment?

➢ The main thing I learned as a result of completing this assignment was to essentially

create a longer essay than what I was originally used to. I essentially learned how to

create a full, seven paragraph essay, from start to finish.

5. How will you use this knowledge/experience in the future?

➢ I will use this knowledge through other forms of writing in the future. For example, as

someone who’s going to pursue college, I will be able to easily write longer essays

without an issue, compared to me in freshman or sophomore year.
