1.Safety precaution
1-1. General precautions
[WARNING]
Mistakes in operation are extremely dangerous. Read the Operation and Maintenance Manual
carefully before operating the machine. In addition, read Shop Manual and understand its
contents before starting the work.

6 ×

1) Only qualified workers must carry out work and operation which require license or
qualification.

2) Before assembling, park the machine on a hard and level ground. Apply the parking brake
and block the tracks to prevent the machine from accidental moving.

3) Before starting installation, turn the battery disconnect switch is in OFF position to inactivate
the batteries.

4) When lifting a heavy component (heavier than 25 kg), use a hoist or crane. Before using,
the slings (wire ropes, chains, and hooks) must be confirmed to be free from damage.
Always use slings which have ample capacity and set them to proper places. Operating the
hoist or crane, to be done slowly with care to prevent the component from hitting any other
part.
Do not work with any part still lifted.

5) Be sure to assemble all parts again in their original places.

Replace any damaged parts and non-reusable parts. Newly installed hydraulic hoses must
be confirmed that they will not be damaged by contact with other parts when the machine is
operated.

internal parts of the cylinders may be damaged.
If it is necessary to rotate the rods, be sure to perform the rotation while extending or retracting
the cylinders.
2-1. Blade installation
2-1-1. Preparation
1. Disassemble parts from blade; cover (1), cover (2), angle cylinder pins (3)x2,
tilt cylinder pin (4), lock plates (5)x3, caps (6)x2, shims (7)x18.
2. Prepare parts for pitch rod (separately packaged); bolts (8)x4, shims (9)x12.
3. Set block (10) under the work equipment U-frame.

2-3. Adjusting play of blade center ball and pitch ball

2-3-1. Method for adjusting shims at center ball
[WARNING]
Place the work equipment lock lever at LOCK position except when operating the blade for
adjustment.

The shim adjustment of the center ball portion is required in the following cases.
• When a play over the standard value is found at the center ball portion
• When the blade is assembled again after it has been removed for transportation
If it is not adjusted, the blade response to the operation becomes worse, and soil and sand
may enter and cause premature wear or damage of the ball.
Adjust as follows.
• Standard value for play at ball joint: 0.2 to 0.7 mm {0.008 to 0.028 in}
5 ×
6 ×

• Standard shim thickness: 6 to 8 mm {0.236 to 0.315 in}

1. Remove the bolt (1) and loosen the bolts (2)

(5 pieces).
2. Remove all the shims (3) and tighten the
bolts (1) and (2) lightly so that the dimension
of clearance (A) becomes even at whole
circumference.
3. Measure the clearance (A) and set the shim
thickness so that it is between (A + 0.2) and
(A + 1.2) mm {(A + 0.008) and (A + 0.047) in}.
The shim thickness can be set by removing
some shims from the number of shims to use.
Shim thickness (number of shims to use):
0.5 mm {0.02 in} (2 pieces), 1.0 mm {0.039 in}
(8 pieces)
4. Restore the shims of the thickness which is
set in step 3 to the original position, and
tighten the bolts (1) and (2) lightly.
5. Angle and tilt the blade to check the play at
center ball portion.
3 ×
4 ×

• When no creak sound is heard and the

blade moves smoothly, the adjustment is
completed.
• If a creak sound is heard or the blade does
not move smoothly, add shims.
• If the play at the ball portion is still large,
remove more shims.
6. After adjusting, tighten the bolts (1) and (2).
Tightening torque: 455 to 565 Nm
{46.5 to 58 kgm, 336 to 420 lbft}

2-4. Air bleeding from work equipment cylinders

* Before applying the following operation, check regular level of the hydraulic oil in tank.

* Following procedure to be done for each line of tilt, angle and lift cylinders.
1. Run the engine at low idle for about 5 minutes.
2. While running the engine at low idle, extend and retract the cylinder to be bled
4 – 5 times.
3. Accelerate the engine to high idle, and carry out this operation twice more.
4. Deaccelerate the engine to the low idle, and move the cylinder to the stroke end to
relieve the oil.
