You can also supplement the powerpoint lecture notes with other books if
you want. Suggested homework will be selected from this book, however.

Operation
Regular lectures will be supplemented by tutorials.

In the tutorial, the TA will discuss homework problems and go through the
exercise with you. In addition, he will give you guidance on how to do the
labs and the project. The TA will give two tutorial sessions (same content)
each week.

It is important to attend the lectures and tutorials if you are really interested
in learning and want to do well in this course.

Suggested self-study homework will be given every other week. You do not
have to turn in this homework. However, quizzes will be given in class. The
questions of these quizzes will be based on the homework.

Suggest spending a minimum of 5 hours (including doing homework) on
self-study besides attending lectures/tutorials.

The expected number of hours spent on labs and project should average
out to be around 3 hours per week. Each lab should take on average
around 6 hours and the project should take around 20 hours.

Do not complain on the difficulties of the course if you spend less time than
suggested above and/or do not attend lectures and tutorial. Let me know if
you still cannot catch up despite spending more time than above on this
course.

Please do not plagiarize on the labs and project. You can discuss among
yourself. Blind copying without understanding is not allowed.

Grades will be based on the following weights:

Labs (3 altogether): 15%

Network programming project: 15%
Quizzes (4 altogether): 32%
Final Exam: 38%
