Nationwide Simultaneous Drill (NSED) is an event that aims to test the efficiency and usefulness
of the preparedness, response and recovery plans, system and policies of the respective schools. Also, to
test coordination and communication mechanism during response operation and to understand the
command and control mechanism in emergency and disaster operation at the DRRMC. Hagbay Elementary
School had the said event last August 16, 2018 at exactly 9: 00 am in the morning.

The teacher oriented first their pupils on the basic things to do and to remember during an
earthquake. After the orientation, the teacher rang the bell and announced to the pupils that the earthquake
drill has begun. All pupils do the Drop, Cover and Hold On position. Some pupils were under their desks,
some cover their heads with books and some with their bags.

When the bell stops ringing, all pupils including their teacher evacuate to an open and safe area.
The teacher counted each pupil if all of them are safe and able to evacuate. First aid was also given to those
injured pupils. After securing that everyone and everything are safe, the teacher let the pupils go back to
their respective classroom.

The school had its simple way of conducting the activity but it was a successful one. Both the
teachers and the students enjoyed the said event and made sure to participate again on the next earthquake
drill.
