account for the diff erences you see? There is major difference in crime statistics between Cocoa
Beach and Chicago, starting with the population difference. Chicago has an obvious amount of more
people in their city than coca beach, and with more people there is more crime

of the Crime in the U.S. page for 2016. There you will find Table 1, which provides additional
information about Federal Crime Data. Explain why the crimes accounted for in this section
would not be included with the state crime information.

A surprising fact I learned was the amount of rape that happens in the United States every year, this

NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMIZATION SURVEY, BUREAU OF JUSTICE STATISTICS

The National Crime Victimization Survey is found in the Victims section of the
Bureau of Justice Statistics website, which is on the menu of the left side of the
page. Clicking Victim Characteristics will take you to that report. When looking at
Bureau of Justice Statistics website, you want to be sure to focus on the Summary
link when looking for data, since that is where the results of the information collected
can be found. When answering the questions, include a link to the webpage on
which you found the answer if your answer includes specific data from the
site.

Many of the results of the National Crime Victimization Survey are found in the Publications and
Products section. There you will find the report titled Race and Hispanic Origin of Victims and
Offenders. Read the summary page to review the most recent results. What group is least likely
to be attacked by someone of a different race? Why do you think that the percentages are so
high for perpetrators and victims being of the same race?

Hispanics are least likely to be attacked by someone of a different race. I think people who are the same
race have more confidence being with someone who are like them and feel ok with attacking them.

kinds of crimes are people with disabilities most likely to be a victim of? How could the
information in this report be used to better protect people with disabilities?
