Life Goals Essay
Many individuals set life goals to achieve them, become successful, and stay productive.
Whether it’s as small as getting better grades or as big as gaining national recognition, this
strategy helps to keep people motivated. By having a decided list of goals to accomplish in life,
individuals aren't confused as much as to what they want to do.
My name is Zainab and I moved from Marlboro to Monroe in 7th grade. I am currently
taking mostly all honors classes. I love to swim and occasionally play the acoustic guitar. I love
taking care of children as I have a 3 year old brother diagnosed with autism. I know many people
who have interesting lives and I am about to share mine.
To improve my life experiences, I want to set life goals. My goals are to keep my grades
in the A/B range and to get involved in voluntary work. By 17, I would like to get an internship
in the medical field. My post high school plans are to get into a BS/MD program and pursue
neurology or psychiatry at a prestigious university such as Johns Hopkins. Because I’ve watched
my loved ones suffer both physically and mentally, my interested have gravitated towards having
a desire to combat neurological disorders and mental illnesses. For example, my father is
diagnosed with bipolar disorder and my grandmother was a schizophrenic. When I was little, it
was hard to comprehend that my father was “mentally ill”, but as I matured I understood and I
knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. It wasn’t easy to find my passion until I realized how
much of an impact my upbringing and the people close to me had on my interests.
In order to achieve my goals, I know that I have to persevere and work hard because
nobody will do it for me. This is a really common saying, but I think this actually helps me to
accomplish whatever I intend to get done. One of the other most important things is to not let
anyone tell me I can't do it. Being determined and staying motivated is enough for me to put in
my best effort in everything because in the end, I'll get my reward. Whether the reward is a
blessed family or successful career, I will be grateful for it.
As a person, I'd like to think of myself as loving yet pessimistic. I plan on improving my
personality to become a more optimistic person, but for now I want to be known as a passionate
and a hard working person. While pursuing my career, I want to be known for making a lasting
change for hundreds of families suffering with mental illness and/or developmental disorders. I
also look forward to becoming a more mature and grounded person myself from hearing other
