DreamWorks Animation
Attn: Human Resources
1000 Flower St.
Glendale, CA 91201

Dear Human Resources:

I am interested in your Summer Intern position for TV Production and would like to apply to your program.
Dreamworks is a company that played a major role in influencing me to pursue a career in animation.

Since a young age I have loved Dreamworks films. Spirit happened to be my favorite and I remember watching the
film on repeat on my VHS. Once I got older, my fascination with the studio’s films never went away. How to Train
Your Dragon was the film that really inspired me to think about a career in Animation. I am currently working towards
my Bachelors Degree in Animation, with an emphasis on 3D Animation. I have been attending Academy of Art
University since the summer of 2017. Aside from school, I have been a part of a non-profit organization called
Art=Opportunity. Being apart of this program taught me communication skills, organization, the ability to work under
pressure, and meet deadlines.

My software experience Includes Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Maya, Word and Excel. I also have years of
experience using a Wacom tablet,

Thank you for your consideration.

Best Regards,

Gabrielle Maynard

SWOT Analysis

Strength
I have worked with organizations in the art world to create an event that gave youth a platform to express
themselves through art. Though this does not pertain to my major, it has allowed me to learn how to
organize and plan, lead, and work together with others to create a final product. This experience has
strengthened traits that are needed to succeed in the Animation field.

Weaknesses
My experiences have given me skills to help me succeed in a career yet I lack hands on experience and am
at an entry level using Animation programs.

Opportunities
Though I lack experience using Animation programs such as Maya,I will have learning opportunities through
my college classes to expand my experience. While in school I am able to take on internships that will ready
me for the industry and also allowing me to network.

Threats
Due to a lack of financial stability I am unable to attend school on campus, this may hinder me seeing as
when I struggle there are times where my instructor can not assist me.

Goals

Goal #1 Gain experience working with animation

Steps:
● Continue to concentrate on school
● Gain experience by applying to internships
● Practice animation independently, find your style
Existing Resources:
● Opportunity to take summer classes
● Maya 2015 provided by AAU
Needed Financial Resources:
● Money to pay for housing when participating in internships

Goal #2 Network with other Animators

Steps:
● Connect with students in my major
● Attending conventions, film festivals and, meet ups regarding Animation
● Actively reach out to other animators via social media
Existing Resources:
● Use the school website’s mailbox as a way to contact my classmates
● Social media
Needed Financial Resources:
● Most conventions or film festivals require an entry fee

Statement
The goals listed above are estimated to be completed by graduation (summer or 2021). I am hoping to
expand both my skills and networks in the Animation field, as this will help me become well rounded and
more likely to be hired for a position.
