CHAPTER IV

RECOMMENDATION

The initially stated overarching aim of this research was to identify the underlying effects

and apparent concurrence of sleep deprivation among Level IV students of the Ateneo de

Zamboanga University. While recognizing the limitations of our analysis, it would be of the best

interest of the academe and the study hereof that a bigger scope for respondents be appropriate.

Even though that sleep deprivation is apparent with the respondents, the Level IV students, it is

just so for the lower level students. We further recommend that distinction is not of the moment

and as such, gathering data from other year levels would enrich the research and the study thereof.

Having a large number of respondents would make the data more detailed and address the issue

more.

In our original proposal we emphasized our desire to include case studies involving nursing

students that suffer from sleep deprivation, however, it is not always the case. The study would

then be more interesting that there is a need to further research other cases that a nursing student

suffers in the academe, in cases of but not limited to, drowsiness, sicknesses like the common cold

and et cetera. As stated in the study, researching to these cases would further address these

concerns and then to find a viable solution thereof.

In terms of the initial objectives, we successfully recruited the sample from level IV

Nursing Students. As intended, we have identified the necessary and relevant data for the research,

like of the average number of sleep hours in a day, incidences of sleep deprivation and their
common causes. The researchers further recommend that as stated above, cases other from sleep

deprivation would be necessary.

Nevertheless, we have tracked and accounted for the data collected from the survey, but

there has to be a contrast between the raw collective data from respondents asking the

questionnaire than having interviewees and getting a more detailed and substantive information in

order to have a deeper understanding on how sleep deprivation really affects a Nursing student, or

anyone part of the student body in general.

If we were to add to this research, we would go for a longer time period to be able to capture

involvement through the whole research process from initial design, to data gathering, to

addressing the main issues of sleep deprivation, and to dissemination. We would seek to recruit

more potential case studies in principle, so that we will have a more substantial choice of which to

proceed with once our study began in earnest.
