4010ES Overview
Why are we replacing the 4010?
The current 4010 panel has been losing its competitive edge in the marketplace
over the last several years.
Some competitors’ panels have surpassed the 4010 panel features in many
areas.
• Point Capacity
• Raw Power – Base Panel is 4A
• Software Features
• Network Capability – Cannot take in points on the network.
• Ethernet Connectivity
The current 4010 is also difficult to add new features into
• Not enough Memory
• Limited expansion space

4010ES Overview
The Replacement Plan
Redesign Current 4010 and use the same core as the 4100ES
All current features on the 4100ES are also now in the 4010ES (where
applicable)
Bug fixes on the 4100ES are automatically fixed in the 4010ES code (same
code base)
New features built into the 4100ES may be easily added to the 4010ES with
very low R&D effort, market requirements will dictate which features are
ported over.
Use the ES panel programmer
• ability to import an existing 4010 job and uses card and point data to
create a 4010ES job from it. User list, pseudos, custom control and site
information will be lost in the upgrade (demo at the end).
Leverage the vast amount of 4100ES optional features to provide features on
the 4010ES (IDNet, RUI, 4100 COMMs)
Cost reduce as much as possible to keep the 4010ES at a mid-range panel price

Note 1: All Base Panel PIDs will have an equivalent "BA" (Built in America) version in BAAN for jobs that require Built in America (e.g. 4010-9401BA).
BA and non BA products are identical except for where they are built, therefore there are no R&D prints describing the BA panels.

4010ES Overview
Mechanical Approach
Use the same back-boxes (with some mods) and door as the 4100ES one
and two bay models.
Same look and feel as 4100ES (brand recognition, common family look)
• Platinum and Red Colors
Customers who grow out of the 4010ES Capabilities can easily upgrade
to the 4100ES (wall space is the same)
Replace current dead front (a.k.a. retainer) with hinged design
Easier to service
Can mount hardware on dead front
• More option card space in the back-box
• Side rails not required for UI (cost savings)
Eliminate sheet metal where we can (power supply, for example).

Electrical Approach
Use the same Core as 4100ES CPU and SPS
minimizes software effort
Cost reduce features not needed
Remove harnessing where we can
Remove expansion supply requirement (lower R&D effort)
Remove sheet metal where we can
Maximize option card space

current draw
48 LED Module, InfoAlarm, NAC power, IDNet peripherals current Draw
must be subtracted from the available 8A (1mA alarm, 0.8mA supervisory
per IDNet device) Note: Software does NOT calculate current draw.
Four 3A Class A NACs (No option module required for Class A)
Remember, you still have only 8A of available power.
Battery Charger, up to 110Ah batteries (UL) and 50Ah (ULC) can be charged.
Batteries may need external battery box for larger batteries.
Aux Relay (2A, 32V)
Aux Power (4A Max per MSS) Aux Power tap 2A Max, NACs 2A Max per
NAC.
Standby Power, 5A Max (Same as SPS)

Software
76
Fire Systems Training
Old 4010 software was totally abandoned. None of it was used for 4010ES.
There is nothing to prevent downloading 4100ES jobs into 4010ES panels and
vice versa. However, panel software will compare CPU card type and Job type.
If they do not align, the panel will crash with ‘Invalid CPU Type’ error.
77
Fire Systems Training
4010ES Differentiation:
Limited to 20 addressable slaves and e-slaves.
Limited to 10 RUI annunciators.
Limit of 3 optional cards in CPU bay. If a 4x10 card is used, limit is 2
optional cards.
Limited to 100 external network points. No limit on public network points.
No Audio or Signal cards.
Limited selection of Monitor, Relay, Annunciator, Interface, and Power
options (mostly due to form fit).
Uses different LCD Annunciator than 4100ES or old 4010.
New cards: MSSI, MSS, 4010IDNet+, 4010LCD, 48 LED Module.
4010ES limited to the 2 loop IDNet+ on MSSI.
International 4010ES allows up to 4 MX Loop or 4010IDNet+ cards (IDNet+
circuit on the MSSI counts against the limitation).
